Adding a Cup Holder

The only thing I don't like is the cup holders and that you have to have one part of the console open. It's a personal preference thing

so I added an Ultimate Cup Holder for an E89

https://www.ultimatecupholders.com/

Its a liitle loose so add both sides of velcro to the bottom and the rough side of velcro to the top. I would have added both sides to the top, and still might but I wanted another driver who might move the seat up not to knock it off. I will try it for afew days and see if I need to add the other side of the velcro to the top as it is still a bit loose

It just uses Velcro? Looks convenient enough.

The design is to just slide in under the lip and it is designed for the E89. I added the velcro because it was a bit loose

Ah, interesting. On the M40i the cup holders are inside the center console and you open up the passenger half to use them.

I have the same cupholders in the center console. I just need a place to hold my coffee while I drive to work and didnt want to have half the console open. Not a big deal really, more of a personal preference thing

If that's what they were thinking, then BMW should have committed all the way in the steering/handling department and risked offending/upending Porsche Boxster.

This is a fascinating thread to me, as someone who’d never think to eat or drink in a car (any more than on a toilet). But cool to see innovative solutions!

I generally just put my coffee mug in the cup holder to drink at work and don't drink in the Z4

I use my Landcruiser to go long distances and have a fridge freezer in back and a cool box as part of the stock setup built into the center console. Long distance drives do necessitate being able to have drinks to keep going

Who me? Not sure what planet. It would just never occur to me to eat or drink in a vehicle. Same thing in the bathroom. But I never used ashtrays for cigarettes either, so that’s not so odd.

Amazon. I will give you the link if you want. Then go to Micheals and get those little bottles of paint to match. Easy

Or just get it in black and save yourself the paint time, since most of the interior is black anyway except for some trim...

Here's something similar in black: https://www.amazon.com/organizer-2pc...EX3M3V4PY&th=1

Not sure if it fits the Z4 but they have measurements in webpage pics for anyone who wants to figure it out. I don't mind the cupholders where they are presently, so not for me I guess.
