An alignment isn't needed when changing tires, you are correct. (tall0n said it was recommended, not required. That is an expensive alignment, BTW.)

I get alignments when I get new tires (or a new car) so that I can be sure the tires are going to wear as they should i.e., not prematurely because my toe was off, etc.

I discovered that the Frozen Grey Metallic paint attracts fingerprints like ants to a chocolate bar.

You should be able to tell from the old tires if there is an issue with your alignment. Just make sure you have someone you are sure will do a good job with the alignment. I have had bad alignments more than once.

I had noticed this on someone else's car and was wondering if it was something with THAT car or something with matte finish period. I'd be afraid of that. Especially since there are alot of areas on the car that needs to be touched in order to close things.

I think it is a side effect of the matte paint. Nothing a good bath won't correct.

I am finally done! I took my car back today to have the remaining painted parts ceramic coated with Gtechniq EXO. Here is the full list of what I’ve had done and the cost:
XPEL PPF on the following areas ($2400):
Full front (Bumper, fenders, A Pillars, headlights, mirrors), full doors, rocker panels, door sills, quarter panels behind the rear fenders, rear panel under the trunk lid and on either side of the license plate. All major edges wrapped.

2 coats of gtechniq Halo Ceramic coating for PPF which I did myself for all PPF coated surfaces (material cost: $99 for 50ml Halo + $10 gtechniq panel wipe prep solution)

Gtechniq Exo ceramic coating for remaining painted surfaces including rear quarter panels, trunk and rear bumper ($200)

Total: $2709. It wasn’t cheap, but I’m very happy with the results. I’ve got to wait a week before I can wash it and I’m looking forward to seeing the water sheet off and trying the leaf blower in place of a chamois.

Congrats. I chose against the PPF on the matte paint because it dried to gloss. The ceramic coating adds depth though.

I finally got the car back today. Apparently there is a tire shortage now, on top of everything else. I was wrong about the $270 charge for the alignment. It was actually $229.

Attached is the Alignment Report, and as you can see, the rear wheels were out of spec. The car has less than 10K miles and I have driven it carefully the entire time.

XPEL Stealth has a matte finish. I had the whole car wrapped in XPEL and then had it ceramic coated. Been very happy with the results. After a year and a half, still looks great!!

Thanks. Yours does look sharp. I had the matte PPF on and it just had a sheen that didn't sit well with me.

A PPF will fix it. I highly recommended it!

I use Road Hazard from Discount tire a little too often between all my cars. I Love It!
I have them ship the tire directly to my Dealer & pay the dealer to install.

I hope they were anchored down!
Those cute puppies look so small that they would fly out of the car.

When we were driving, the roof were closed to prevent flyout.
