I'm half age for the z4 yikes. Funny because I've never met anyone under 50 with another G29

I got my first Z4 at 25 or so and I’ve had four in total now but I have an irrational obsession with them especially the E86 coupes.

I was 32 when I bought my G29 Z4 (new).
I had a 2017 340i sedan at age 28, and my first BMW was a 2011 335i coupe which I bought when I was 22. I also get the sense that roadsters/sports cars aren't popular with the younger crowd. Most of my friends have SUVs or Teslas. Charles

Same. My original thought was to have this for 3 years inbetween young drivers in my home. Turn it in when the next one is ready to drive and get a more practical sedan. Now my youngest girls and me are all asking how we’ll give this up in a couple years!

Bought my G29 Z4 at 30. I remember when my parents bought a 2008 Z4 and I fell in love with the platform. We eventually sold it a few years later so I’m definitely glad to be back in once.

With all these young whippersnappers here, makes me wonder what the median age is!

haha! not really, but add a 40 year old 'wippersnapper' into the mix and it really brings down the average.

I've owned multiple cars on this list but didn't own my first BMW until I turned 60. Jesus, I'm 60. *

I got my E89 Z4 when I was around 35, and I’ll be picking up this new one next year around 45.
1. All the ages on that chart seem to skew too high. 2. When I joined the local S2000 club around 2008, I realized right away that cars don’t have a specific “age” demographic. We had everything from 20-something Honda kids upgrading from a COVID to their first sports car, to empty nesters who didn’t need the minivan anymore and who could enjoy their time back out on the road. And, and was probably the best damn group of people I’ve ever known despite the differences. |

44 as well, but got my 30i in 2021 so I started at 42. lol.
Tried to get an E85 in early 2000's but San Jose dealerships laughed me out the door when I told them I was ready to buy. So.. whatever, got a 350Z instead. At the time the Z4 was only a smidge more expensive than the 350Z.

I thought about going to the Ferrari dealership in Nashville, but I don't think I have any nice enough clothes...

There’s a high end dealer in Chicago that is smack dab in the middle of a high traffic/tourist area downtown. Believe they sell Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce and maybe Maserati. Maybe 8-10 years ago, I was walking past it on my way to the subway after doing some shopping and I noticed they had a Bugatti Veyron in the showroom. Obviously never seeing one of these in person, I strolled in to take a look. I was late 20’s/early 30’s age-wise, and it was a weekday in December (I remember I had some vacation days I had to use before the end of the year). Being a weekday, I was the only non-sales person in there at that moment. I’m sure they knew damn well I couldn’t afford this $1MM plus car, but a salesman walked over to me and asked if I needed anything. I told him I was a car guy, had never seen one of these, and just stopped in to take a look. He proceeded to open the door of the car for me and let me take a look inside. They also had a small bar in the dealer (not sure if it’s still there, as I haven’t been to that area in a while). He offered me a drink, and we talked about all the stuff that he had seen come through there in the past as well as showed me a couple other cool cars they had at the time. I obviously didn’t buy anything, but the experience stuck with me. So while some of them suck, there are good ones out there |

So true! I walked into MacMulkin Chevrolet in NH to look at vettes when I was 27. Went in wearing a pair of jeans and a hoodie, no one walked up to me. Decided on Velocity Yellow after seeing it in person, hunted down a sales guy and said ok I’m ready to order a new vette…..I was probably not the usual demographic lol.

Matter of fact, I took my white Z4 in to get its inspection earlier this year and I wore some gym shorts, non-matching shoes and a hoodie with holes in it. Guy comes in.. asks who the owner of the white BMW was and I am like.. me. He looks at me... "the .. White BMW??" yes... yes here is my key. I don't wanna be that stereotypical BMW owner and look & act like i own a $75k car.

Just turned 54, bought it when I was 53. But in my defense I had my manual transmission F83 M4 vert 6 years earlier. In my 20's I had a E30 vert.
