Agreed, though the alcantara on the door cards is nice. Maybe the new Cognac option would have been cool if the door cards and center armrest were black alcantara instead.

It's a shame you have to option them out to get ventilated seats. We have those on my wife's S5, but the "base" seats definitely look cooler.

I test drove a new 2024 Z4 last week and was very unimpressed with the Vernasca leather. It felt cheap and "over-plasticized" with that fake pebble grain. Maybe they do that because that particular leather product is more durable in the sun and open air of a convertible - or maybe just to save money? I suppose it could be recovered with better leather but that sounds expensive.

Completely agree i love alacantra seats , so comfortable in winter , don't even have to turn on on heated seats, have them in my ZL1 and love it, wonder why BMW doesn't have this option

Fellow Canadian here, and my 6MT is already built and awaiting carrier assignment to port.

Even got 3.5% off MSRP + another $1500 off with BMW Loyalty, while our American friends are pumped about finding a dealer at MSRP.

Our cars are cheaper also if you factor in currency exchange.

While you are waiting for the lackluster configurator, people are getting their orders in and receiving allocations in Canada.
Configurator will show you nothing you don't already know from reading this forum.

Question on Black Vernasca / Alcantara Interior

I've never had or experienced Alcantara interior and I agree with previous posts asking why only the headrest portion of the seats.

That said, can anyone speak to the durability/maintenance aspects of Alcantara? Were I to go with a black interior, if the Alcantara wears poorly or difficult to clean, might just stick with Sensatec vrs the hard, Vernasca leather. Have the Sensatec in the x3 and like it.

Would love a fabric option for seat material but know that's not available in U.S. bound Z4s.

Thanks for you insights!

I see you have a 2023 X3, (same as my wife). The Sensatec in the X3 is way nicer than the Sensatec in the Z4. The newer version of Sensatec is much softer and perforated. The one in the Z4 is still the old one.

I love the Sensatec seats in my Z4. Partial to plainer headrest stitching and not sure I'd know it wasn't leather if I didn't know.

Our 2023 x4 M40i still has the Sensatec....the newer version, Sensafin appeared in the 2023 x5 models.

There’s also two versions of Sensatec. Think the new one came out for either the 2022 or 2023 model year. IMO, is much nicer than the older version, which is still in the Z4.

Hmm..good to know. Thanks. The Senstec on our '23 x3 M40 is quite supple..don't miss the "hard leather Vernasca" that I had on our former 2019 230i xDrive.

Yeah, that’s the good stuff. Wife has it in her X3. The newer stuff is perforated. Older version is not. Easy way to tell.

I mean, if you’re already getting the shadowline trim and you drive a lot at night, maybe. I notice it. It wouldn’t be a dealer breaker for me though if a car didn’t have them.

Second that. I had them on a Range Rover Evoque. I did notice them come on but they made no difference to the vision that I needed to drive at night.

If you live in a major city they are a non issue. However if you live in a more rural area with pitch dark roads they can make a difference. 👍🏻

Yeah, this too. I really only notice them when I’m in the suburbs. Too many lights in the city to have a big impact.

For just the cornering bulbs? I'd say no, I struggle to see them most of the time. I'm more of a fan of the black housings, though that could not be your preference.

That said, at around $600 or so, I'd go for it.

Or perhaps if your side windows are tinted.

I would slightly amend that to say that in towns I didnt notice them at all. On rural roads I noticed them come on. But it made little difference because usually I had the car lined up for the corner and only as I turned the steering wheel sufficiently, did they come on. Too late to make a difference in other words.
So based on my personal experience, if a car has it, then fine. I wouldn’t pay extra for it as an option. But that’s just me.
