Driving in the rain

Do you need to be more careful when driving in the rain (from spring to autumn)? Or do driving assistants sufficiently monitor and help safety during normal (not sportive) driving?
Sorry, but I couldn't find this topic in older threads.

No more so than driving any other car in the rain as long as you have good tires with adequate tread.

Quality tires are your ally, while torque can be your foe. However, the real culprit is the person at the wheel. The most valuable enhancement for your vehicle is to enroll in a reputable driving school. Although I’m not sure if BMW provides this in your country, attending one for just a day, 20 years ago, fundamentally transformed me as a driver. The most important takeaway from that experience was realizing that I am the car’s weakest link, no matter the weather.

Depends i quite enjoy driving in the rain turning the traction control off for some occasional tail out action in places appropriate like the parking lot at work before everyone arrives. And after work when most have gone home nice empty lot to drift around the corners.

The Michelins are excellent rain tires. Take full advantage of them buy leaving the traction control on.

I completed a half-day "skid school" training at the training circuit about 3 years ago with a Miata (NC). I can't say that I remember all the rules for driving on a wet road.

"Do you need to be more careful when driving in the rain"
Yes. Tyres and driving aids aside, traction is reduced in the wet.

When I was in my 20’s and lived by the beach in Marina Del Rey in CA I wore a T- shirt that said, “Slippery When Wet”. 😉

With normal driving, there isn't that much difference in the rain compared to any other car.

I did find that the narrower 18inch winter wheels from bmw with the continental tires felt a bit less "stable" in wet/snowy weather.

I'm running the 19" bmw summer wheels with michelin winter tires now during winter, they feel like they slip a little less to me.

During summer i switched to a 20" set with slightly wider tires.

Agreed, if you look at the Tire Rack reviews the Michelin PSS which is in the Max Performance Summer category gets an excellent wet/ dry rating.
