You mean for the distance radar to not show up? I think the aspect ratio of the camera feed and screen are not the same, so it'd have to crop the image.

Is it possible to permanently disable the stop start system? Or must you push the button at initial startup each time?

If your software is prior 03/2023, you can disable ASS and it will remember. BMW locked the ability to change this, and BimmerCode acknowledged this feature won’t be available in the future.

The work around is coding the car to start in any Sport drive mode.

Yes all the useless info on the right ( back up assistant etc) to not show up and display the camera in the whole screen , possible?

Only for comfort mode , if you choose sports and sports + auto start is disabled by default. I start my car in Comfort mode and just push the auto start stop button to disable it , its a pain but not a big deal

2 Questions on features

1. In the instrument cluster where it shows total miles driven is there a setting to replace avg mph with avg mpg , i know if u tap on BC next screen shows avg mpg, wanted to see if it can be displayed under one screen

2. I enabled navigation to be displayed in HUD but the HUD shows entire directions and not only turn by turn directions, meaning if i am driving straight for 10 miles dont need that displayed on HUD , rather the next 1 mile when i need to make turns left or right to come on HUD only.

Even on the manual? On my first drive in my 340 manual, I was having a terrible time getting going from a stop, nearly stalling many times and thinking "I don't remember being so bad at driving a stick" and then realized the car had ASS. It wasn't quick enough for a manual IMO

Manual wouldn’t have a software version this old, since it’s new for 2025 model year.

Probably not the ASS causing that. The clutch delay valve (CDV) restricts flow of the clutch fluid, and delays the friction point. You can delete that.

ASS= Auto start stop? Thats got nothing to do with stalling , its getting used to the clutch release point

I know how to drive stick My point being, I'm already at the clutch engagement point before the engine has fully started and it's not pretty.

Which mode? Comfort? Hit the start stop button to disable auto start stop.

Not sure how it can interfere with car stalling

I also know how to disable ASS. It's "sticky" in my car, I hit the button to turn it off, and the car remembers my selection indefinitely.

In comfort mode with ASS on: I'm stopped, left foot on clutch, right foot on brake, engine off. The light turns green. I take my foot off the brake to move my right foot to the accelerator and the engine begins to start, but by muscle memory I'm lifting the clutch and trying to give it gas, and the clutch is trying to engage while the engine is still spinning up. The car would buck during this maneuver and would probably stall if I didn't then suddenly realize what was happening and put the clutch back in.

TL/DR - I'm faster with the manual operation trying to get the car going than the ASS is in getting the engine going. Sorry If I'm not making sense.

To use ASS with a stick, the solution seems to be listen and wait for the engine to be fully going before trying to get in gear. Great way to get honked at, at a green light

At the risk of stating the obvious, I have it off, and leave it off. Problem solved. And TBH I'm a bit of a curmudgeon and I just prefer not to learn how to live with it and find it easier to avoid altogether.

Agreed, I despise the ASS. Whether on automatic or manual, if I could permanently disable I would.

First of all I don't use ASS and hate it, at times when I forget to turn it off in comfort mode what I do is just press the clutch and car starts and then it's normal driving. I don't press gas to turn car on , just use the clutch . Try like that.
