Maybe they were equipped with run-flat brains?

Many of the dealers salespersons only pay attention to what is in their computer system. They pay no attention to the trade media.

Based on the announcement, sometime in January BMW will issue an updated pricing and ordering guide for the G29 (See the sticky thread at the top of the forum for the ones from last June covering the July 2024 MY SOP.) That gets published about the same time their system gets updated.

Hopefully the sales manager will highlight the updates to his team, but I expect some won't get it until a customer pushes them to actually look it up.

Hence the role of the genius I guess.
Sales people smooth the process but for me have very little influence on my buying decision.

I got the same story from a sales person. Only found out otherwise from the genius on the day I picked up my car

I think a lot of sales people are only interested in what is sitting in their showroom ready to sell. Anything else is too abstract for them to be interested in.

They're playing the short game. If they sell you a car off the lot, he gets his commission that day. If he doesn't sell you that car, there's a good possibility you won't be back and he just wasted half an hour dealing with you. They don't want you to order a car as it's more work for them (sales doesn't want to spec orders, it's easier to let the inventory manager do it) and it will be 2-3 months or more before the sale closes and they get paid.

Good salesman, and I've had the good fortune to deal with a few, work to get you what you want. They get my business. When I run into one that's pushing whatever he's got and doesn't listen to me, I walk.

I guess to some, maybe most, it’s just a job. 🤷‍♂️

I wonder if they will start it as a 2024 model for a few months before switching to 2025? If so i might just have to order sooner to get one of the very few 2024 manuals made.

It's possible it will be a 2025 MY. They did it with the E89. The 2016 MY started in March 2015.

They just did it last year with the X5, when they released the LCI the switch was made around April.

Production is scheduled to continue through March 2026, so I'm pretty sure those last ones will be 2026MY cars.

Even if the only difference between MY2025 and MY2026 is the price.

Just placed an order for an automatic Z4 with the agreement that once the manual is available we’ll modify the order. I’m the first person asking for a manual Z4 at that San Diego area dealership and this holds a build slot for me.

Sales mgr said every dealer will get some allocation, they expect to start production in March, and delivery is hopefully in June.

He couldn’t confirm any details, e.g. that manual is a $3500 upgrade, new colors, etc. Rumor is (maybe even this thread?) is it will be available for order on Feb 1.

If curious, it is San Remo green (assuming that is actually available) with cognac leather. 😍 Was so tempted by the frozen green, but the maintenance / durability issues disuaded me.

Super excited!

Chris

I've been considering it as well but won't do it either. I've been researching it a lot and I know that it's not THAT bad. But I know that, try as I might, between me doing dumb stuff and my kid and wife around, not to mention my kid's friends, I'll have little crap happen to the car and I'd like to be able to DIY some minor repairs i.e. with polishing compound and such when needed. I can do that with shiny clear coat. I maintain my cars well and keep them a long time, and I just keep thinking in like 10 years the clear coated car will have held up better. Perhaps not as an intrinsic property, but with my situation.

That’s almost exactly my own thought process and conclusion. But man it looks great (to me)!
