Unicorn Sightings!

Ok, so there have been a few black Z4 sightings (one was a 30i; the other not sure) in the past couple months which I didn't think to report.

This afternoon I saw a brand new (temp tag) Z4 30i in Misano blue with the sport package and orbit grey wheels, top down, while out walking my dog.

As mine has mostly been sitting in the garage waiting for warmer weather, I decided to take it out for a spin tonight. A few minutes into my drive, I passed its doppleganger on Azalea Road along the river - an M40i in FG, with shadowline trim (I think). Alas, the top was up on that Z4, so I'm not sure if it really was a twin.

That's the first FG Z4 I've seen on the road since I got mine 10 months ago.

While I was having my wife’s 228i serviced today I spotted a white/ magna 30i and a Misano blue/ ivory M40i at my dealer.

Edited to add that it is very unusual for me to see two Z4’s at the service department at the same time. The majority of the time I visit there you don’t even see one.

Was at the dealer today to do the annual state inspection, oil change etc. Also filing the paperwork to buy-out the Z4 M40i lease

The M8 is also sort of a unicorn as you don't see many. This was an M8 competition convertible. Car was for sale at $157.000 MSRP with no ADM. Took the picture as the grill is the same one I bought for the Z4.

I see alot of M8s here in San Antonio. More than regular 8 series or even the M4. People certainly have money here. I see alot of 6-series too.

I also see more of them here in south Florida. Definitely more than our Z4’s.

Ditto that. Seems the same in ATL.

The day I first drove my Z4 home I passed an M8 convertible and an M8 coupe, and no Z4s on the 10 mile drive home.

I see more of pretty much anything over our G29 Z4. Hyper cars, Super cars, sleeper cars, junker cars, and everything in between.

That is the main reason why I'm a proud owner.

If you had your speakers turned up, you may have been able to hear a big sigh of relief.

To be honest, I feel a bit sad for the guy. I have a sense that he had problems deeper than we'll ever know.

However, I'm not a psychiatrist and the G29 forum feels a little brighter now.

On another note, I believe I've only seen a total of two other G29s in my neck of the woods since taking delivery last August. The most recent was pulling out of a subdivision less than a mile from my own but she was driving the opposite direction from me. I'm pleased to see both genders appreciating the marvels of the G29.

Sort of funny here. On the road & at Cars & Coffee Ferraris, McLaren's & Lamborghini are pretty much a daily occurrence. We even have 3 Acura NSX's a car they could not sell at C&C.

But I can honestly say the M8 at the dealer was only the second one I have seen in the metal. First one was at a dealer in Wilmington when I got the Z4 flat bedded in with a tire killer flat.

Going to the dealer to transfer the Z4 over to me. Will check out the M8 further but at first glance it looks like an M4C with a V8 engine & upgraded very nice seats.

Have seen a few i8's on the road, one last week.
