Of course, glass is much less susceptible to scratches than acrylic but the wind deflector's location is such that nothing is likely to accidentally scratch it. It's easy to clean with a microfiber cloth and water/mild soap if necessary. In the 6+ months I've had it installed, I haven't had to clean it once. Granted, I only have a little more than 3K miles on it but most has been top down. I had a similar wind deflector on my Miata a few years back. After 4+ years, it still looked new. |

I have the ER and can confirm the visibility is significantly better and the cockpit is a bit warmer for those PNW cool driving conditions...unfortunately, it also rattles at high speed...say 70+...despite adding felt bumpers to try and seat it better in the channels. I spoke with the owner of the biz and he thought it had to do with the shape - specifically that it does not sit forward like the mesh model. I will continue to ticker with it but the gain is visibility is worth it to me so I likely will not return.

It is explained on the ER website. You can get the deflector with or without illumination. here is some info - more if you dig around their website.
"A top-quality multi-color illumination kit is included in the package; in-built LED strip lights are invisible by its unique design and glow the deflector to any color you’d like at night time by the RF (Radiofrequency) control remote and the receiver. Plug the power cable into the cigarette lighter power port right after the installation. You may also get the light kit hard-wired to some possible locations with the help of a car electrician." I recently bought the Windschott glass wind deflector. Here's probably more information than anyone needs about how it compares to the stock mesh screen.
First, the windshott is a little bit taller than mesh. By my less than perfect measurements, the mesh is about 6-3/16" tall; the windschott about 6-3/4" That means that while the mesh has about a 1/2" gap at bottom, the windschott sits flush [although it does not curve in as mesh does]. The windshott has felt pads on both sides to eliminate vibration, and a magnet at the bottom. So far, we think the increased visibility is well worth it. Sorry about pictures - couldn't figure out how to load them inside post where they belong |

I just bought a clear one that recently showed up on ebay, but apparently I bought the last one, as it no longer shows up. Acrylic, but 10mm thick instead of 6mm, so less likely to flex/vibrate and mainly pulled the cord because it was only $170 shipped from the UK. Looks good in the pics and multiple 5 stars reviews from other G29 owners that bought it. I will post pics when it arrives end of October.

I’m VERY impressed with this acrylic one I just got on ebay from the UK. Paid with a no foreign transaction fee credit card, it was right at $170. Orders of magnitude better than the screen. He doesn’t have any listed at the moment but I messaged him to ask if he is making/willing to make anymore. Apparently it is not exactly symmetrical as it does only fit in one direction. Much snugger fit than the screen, and it seems to have less backdraft as well. 50F out today and perfectly comfortable.

They are just spacers that fill the gap at the correct contact points for a snug fit. It just slides in like the original, albeit with a bit more friction. Invisible when installed. I like that it gives the exact same view as no screen at all. Even the glass one has a L/R edge that reduces view a small amount.
I still have the thinner, much cheaper plexiglass one that attached with Velcro straps for my old Z3, and it was in the car continuously, year round for about 8 years. Not a scratch or mark on it. This one is orders of magnitude nicer. Even if you did accidentally scratch it, any casual scratch is easily buffed out. |

Perry, Any word back from the Ebay seller on making more? I might be interested in one of these.
I saw Kwaj's last weekend and liked it, but your price is solid. Thanks

Doh! I see now that the original isn’t symmetrical either. All of them only go in “one way”.
At about 1/2 the price of the others, I figured I’d grab one (or a even a spare) before they disappeared or he raised his prices! |
