I know but GM doesn't make them, just own them. Benz has merged with Chrysler but I hope chrysler doesn't get involved in building or I will never get into one myself. I am familiar with Toyotas involvement in making the prizm engine. Don't forget fords involvment with Volvo(Ohhhh no!). That is right I discriminate the domestic brand.

The only thing I would get from GM is a Z06 or ZR1, and the only reason I might do that is to track them. But I still would prefer an M3 to that.

47k for a C6? Depends on if its your only car. If so, then i'd pass... but if not...

I am beginning to wonder with all the merges and buy offs, will competition die out leaving us all to drive crap around?

Daimler sold Chrysler last year. The 300, Charger, etc are based on the old E Class. A lot of Chryslers current RWD cars are Mercedes based.

So that explains it all. No wonder the new C-class looked like what I thought it looked like. Iewwwww...

As said above all these "incentives" kill resale. The Z06 and CTS-V are pretty much the only GM products I would buy.

That's for a C6. An '08 Z06 (without useless geegaws) can probably be had for around $58K at employee pricing. Considering what kind of performance that car is capable of, that's a very attractive price.

You'd be hard pressed to beat the deal on the Vette for performance. Equally hard pressed to keep rear tires on it.

I would definitely consider a Saturn for a daily driver (too bad it's not sold here as Opel), and a Z06 for the weekends.

Is the current vette interior now nicer than in the past? I've never really liked the interiors, personally.

never driven a vette and probably will never. If I have to pay for it, i'll try to get the most out of my money. not just a performance car that goes fast in summer. but if I had the money to buy 2 cars I still wouldnt buy a corvette or any american car, unless it was a classic car.

I'm not sure if you could find anything comparable at that price. Agree it's a pretty great deal.

My parents just purchased an '08 Escalade ESV for about $12k off from whatever the price was. I think this was the best time for us to consider replacing our '02 Yukon Denali XL due to the condition our economy is in and how it affects the sales of big American SUVs.

I had the chance to drive a late '07 Vette convert as a rental from Hertz wile in Albuquerque, NM on business. Let's just say I drove the hell out of that car and it was LOADS of fun. The best moments were blasting up the road to Sandia Peak. Lot's of switchbacks and that cool little G-meter kept flirting near 1.0G on some of the turns. Great car to have for some back-road driving, but I couldn't live with it everyday.

Doesn't look too bad to me. Shifter looks nice, wheel looks good:

I don't think I'd ever want a Vette of my own, but I'd love to drive one someday.

I was inches away from buying one and could have had the same discount, but living in the north east I would have had to buy a winter car and I just don't have the dough to do that right now.
No question about the raw power here. From a power standpont, the only sportscar I have been able to completely exploit (WOT) was a 2002 Vette. I would have to say: there are no other cars I have driven that have produced that "Jump ahead urgency, even at 60 MPH" feeling.

That looks pretty bad to me. If you stop looking at the whole picture and look at each of the individual panels and peices... they are all plasticy looking still.

At least its not the exact same interior as on a Tahoe. That use to be rediculous.

I can't tell what trim that 'Vette interior is, but on the 4LT's( and standard on the Z06 and ZR1) the dash is leather wrapped.

Plus the wagon sized steering wheel,, and poor seats. I mean I think they look these two over each year,,, just to pizzz people off.

The turn stalks look right out of a Caprice. and the rectangle plastics on the ac/ stereo,.. look like they grabbed that out of the Silverado parts bin.

Little things add up fast.

thats why I like my Bimmer.

Plus could you really drive that year round ,, replacing the rims and tires with dedicated snows?
