At this price point it’s a no brainer for me
Both have tried and true sunblock tech… But many don’t like Animal skin being used… Regardless, Leather will always have the highest resale value…

One other issue...While I know getting black seats in a convertible is not the smartest idea with regards to heat retention, I am still planning to do so because I like the look the best. Does anyone have any thoughts about whether the non-perforated SensaTec is better or worse than leather for heat retention/breathability? Thanks again.

I just used the remote preconditioning for my Z4 (black Vernasca leather) for the first time yesterday (it was 92° outside). Man! That’s such a cool feature - comfy from the start!
Aside: my wife wishes she had this feature in her E400 coupe!
The temperature for the remote preconditioning needs to be set in advance in the car ?

Real leather, imitation leather, Alcantara, beige, black, I've had them all. I was an Alcantara hater until I bought a CPO car with Alcantara, then I liked it.

It's just a car. Whatever you choose, after a few months you get in it and drive and those things you deliberate about now are forgotten.

Have sensatec in the Mini and the leather in the Z4. The sensatec is comfortable and holds up super well. It's hard to tell if there's much of a comfort difference which is pretty indicative of where the Vernasca sits on the durability <-> supple scale. I think the leather is more just an aesthetic choice tbh.

I've found this to be true when playing with some of the online value calculators.

Especially true for the Z4. Leather would've been my automatic pick without the added headrest stitching. Carefree seats were an added perk.

Eh... to each their own regarding animal skin. It's morbid when you think of it, but I've always felt that the life of the animal was taken and we typically don't let anything go to waste. Between nourishment, protection and comfort... it was a life well spent.

I like the look and feel of the leather much better.

I personally don’t have any issue with it

Agreed it’s nice and feels great

But in Europe it’s a thing

While I personally appreciate Thomas' "Autogefuhl" YouTube car reviews, he incessantly mentions and promotes the "animal free" seat options...you can expect that in any of his reviews. So yes, apparently a significant issue more so in Europe. Perhaps that's why European vehicles, even in the luxury/near luxury class may also have a very nice fabric option. I'd choose that in a heartbeat over either Vernasca or Sensatec; especially in a convertible...in fact, I did just that in our MINI Roadster S.

Yep he’s the one reviewer that won’t shut up about it and I like him personally except for him including his girl in his reviews now

Post a pick of your Mini when you can

I’m curious as what it looks like

Here's the '15 MINI Roadster S while out "west" during a previous MINI Takes The States journey.

Have the Vernasca leather in Magma red in my Z4 and noticed yesterday when wiping it down that the leather is very hard and not soft/ plush leather , is that good or bad?

Normal for this type. Also sensatec feels slightly softer to the touch to me but not much difference actually sitting on it.

Yeah, that's a bummer. My other recent vehicles (Hyundai and Subaru) have better options for configuring the settings remotely.

I've been doing some MyBMW app beta testing, can't talk much about it due to NDA but I can say that every time I submitted a report, I suggested they need to add the ability to set cabin temperature and seat and steering heating options from the app.
