the best thing apple could do is not exclusively sell to any carrier, but all carriers.

Apple should have control of their own phone, not Verizon.

All the carriers should do is provide the service of phone, text, data, etc. Leave the software and hardware to the phone makers. It's a joke that the first BB Storm didn't have WiFi. But, that was due to Verizon wanting Storm users using their network for all of their data needs.

I seriously don't see why it is unreasonable of Apple wanting to control the hardware and software of their own product, not the phone carriers. Though I agree that Apple needs to do something about the app approval process. The Google Voice thing perplexes me.

cnet is the worst place to get reviews. They have no idea what they are talking about. Even with hands-on reviews, they only talk about how nice or how bad a product is based on the specification. They never put the time in and actually use the product for the reviews.

I always hear people raving about Verizon's network, but I switched for about two weeks back in the summer of 2008 and was really, really disappointed with the network. I ended up switching back to AT&T and getting the iPhone.

But the iPhone does pretty much suck as a 'phone' - but man it does just about everything else pretty darn well.

yeah look on youtube theres a lot of in depth reviews on it and i haven't come across a bad one yet they all seem to love it.

The droid is open-platform, and Verizon is stepping away from locking down everything. And whomever said Motorola=Fail? Don't remember the Star-tac? That's probably considered to be the best cell phone ever built in terms of overall quality.

some great comparison. i think the droid stacks up there agains the iphone. each have their own pros/cons. for me i've wanted to stay at verizon and now we have something similar. gotta love the turn by turn nav (with voice like a garmin) and layers.

this phone looks hot. reminds me of my G1 and I love it. My contract ends this month might hop the band wagon.
