Don't even get me started on names.... I just call everyone sweetie, honey, or whatever so I don't have to remember. Obviously this is not always appropriate.

The 1958 VW Micro Bus I learned to drive in didn't have synchromesh on 1st gear. Dad taught me how to double-clutch. Later, I drove his Crosley with 3-speed crash box (no synchromesh on any gear). You had to double-clutch all shifts, up or down.

Ok. First I have to tease you that I'm thinking WTF, how is this thread still alive???? Only you can start a thread and have it take on a life of its own to last months and years. Secondly, see my PM as I have a suggestion for you that might help.

When you get to be as old as we are, you'll understand how every day you have more to add to this thread. And yes, it's almost at 2,000,000 views.

How are you, Alpine? You only crawl out of the woodwork every now and then.

BTW, I don't have a pm from you.

EDIT - Received.

I know. While I'm not the age of this group, I'm not that far off either and I see how this thread has lived on this long. I'm good and busy (contrary to popular belief, the life of a lawyer is busier post-pandemic than before the pandemic….if we can even call this time "post-pandemic") and that is why I pop out of the woodwork only occasionally. Hope all is well with you too.

You know you're old when every time you post on the thread "it's a good day because" it relates to recovering from an injury.

..because we all forget what's already been posted and re-post the same things over and over!

I received an emergency phone call from work at 2:00 AM Tuesday morning. Their emergency call tree list for this issue was 15 years obsolete, and for the life of me I could not remember the current name of the company that they needed to call and open a trouble ticket with! I knew the name of their install tech from 1989, but not who bought their company up in 2004.

Only mentioning this because I just went through my work email to look it up, because this thread made me remember that I forgot to look it up yesterday.

Get off my lawn, kid!!!!!

A song that you loved listening to in high school, which was new at that time, comes on on the classic rock station. This happened to me today while I was on my lunch break.

Actually by the mid sixties Triumph finally switched their cars to negative ground...so they're both neg. But my first car, a '61 TR3, was positive ground.

Interesting. My newest bike is a 1971 Norton and it's positive ground.

The first time that I heard an instrumental KISS song in an elevator was the day that I realized that I was old for the first time.

I'm still trying to figure out what a Dolby Atmos and an Oculus Rift are. Are either of them like a Kardashian, and why should anyone keep up with it?????

There goes that brain freeze again. There was a recent car commercial with classic rock background music. Zep? Aerosmith? It will come to me eventually. And it wasn’t Seger “Like A Rock” Chevy commercial.

Was it released on 8-track or vinyl? I will then know whether to keep one foot on your lawn or completely GTFO.
Cassette. 😬

You know that in 1958, an American: Van Cliburn, won Tchaikovsky piano competition in Moscow.
The Russian officials asked Nikita Khrushchev for approval before announcing it.

I remember years ago Cadillac used Led Zeppelin's "Rock And Roll" in their commercials. That's one of my favorite Zeppelin tunes. Needless to say I was very sad to hear that. Now it's done all the time and with many of the good ol' songs.
