There’s not much out there at the moment, likely one of the few decent ‘mini-reviews’ is from the folks over at BMW Blog from last December. Once BMW starts pushing out & making final production vehicles available to the media, we should get the regular onslaught of in-depth comparisons from the typical sites & enthusiasts. (I’m anticipating good things from what little we do know however).

Got order confirmation today. Not in production yet. Now the wait begins. Hopefully by June.

San Remo Green with cognac with same color door cards and a few other options.

Now, anybody want a 2008 E88 with Dinan Stage 3?

I read on another forum that the going rate in CA for oil / filter for the Boxster was about $800 due to its difficult-to-get-to filter location? Yikes, if that's true. My 997.2 oil and filter at the dealer is about $350 which is no biggie.
Don't forget BMW includes routine maintenance on every model for 3 years. You just have to make the appointment.

I haven’t been able to find anything for the Z4 however, (and I’m too lazy to pester my CA again, lol).
Happy Friday!

Attached is a translated 2023 Z4 brochure - you can find PDF brochures online by Googling "G29 BMW Brochure" - there are a few available and all of them are from outside of the US - I assume that BMW creates a PDF for each model and that the PDF brochures are available in markets outside of the US - this brochure was in German before it was Google Translated.

There are also Z4 brochures/other documents available at the top of the G29 General Forum, all you have to do is print them out. Gone are the days of stacks of BMW brochures at a dealership. I've not seen a brochure yet for the 2024 or 2025 models, but they may exist.

I hope this helps with your binder for your Z4 - I do the same and collect everything about my cars - for me and for future private sales.

The Z4M40 is seriously quick with very little turbo lag. Super torquey at lower rpm’s and the single, twinscroll turbo has a linear feel above 2500-3000 rpm thanks also to its high compression ratio. I would recommend you go drive one.

To your second question, the car is comfortable for several hours of driving with little wind buffeting. My experience with Porsches is limited to the 911 and 981 cayman, but I wouldn’t think the GTS would be nearly as comfortable.

Do you find the Z4 significantly more comfortable than the Miata? Is the Miata really lower? Is that the ground clearance or the seat height? I've been pleasantly surprised that the Miata can handle pretty steep driveway entrances, and was worried the Z4 would scrape more. My other car is a Porsche Macan S which is great, but would be nice to be able to take a smaller car on longer drives when we don't need to bring a ton of luggage.
I had a 2017 124 Spider. The Z4 is an all round better car. Of course, this depends what you are going to do with it. I think the only time a Z4 would lose out is in autocross.

The Z4 is not a 'utilitarian' vehicle, but if you look at what people can put in the Z4 trunk, you will be surprised at what it can carry. It also has a glove box, where a glove box should be

Don’t forget there is a small second glove box that is hidden to the left of the steering wheel. 😉

Yep, Frozen Deep Green with White interior for a M40i Auto. In my country the greens are not limited to the MT.

I imagine it'll be a less popular option because it's more expensive, has more upkeep, and is a more polarizing look.

Personally, I'd go with the regular metallic finish over matte even if it were a free to option.

Thanks! My familiarity with factory matte finishes is limited to the Designo Magno on the AMG. Aside from having to purchase dedicated car wash (preferring Chemical Guys over the Dr Beasley's product) and a matte ceramic coat from Gyeon, I've noticed zero additional upkeep required.

I wasn't ever expecting to own two matte finished cars, but it looks like its going to happen.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I still think the matte looks awesome, I just prefer the metallic look myself (but then again, I have a lot of unpopular car opinions haha).

I bought the Z4 with satin grey - “frozen grey II.” I PPF’d almost the entire car and ceramic coated and used the right soap - chemical guys matte. The car was flawless after a year even though the PPF took some punishment that saved me a couple times.

The Z is pretty low to the ground. Otherwise I prob overdid the PPF as the paint held up well. But I didn’t park outside in the sun or elements and was OCD about washing and keeping sap and bird droppings off the car. And it was only a year.

I test drove a new Z4 with the B58 this evening at a dealership and was very impressed with the car. The car feels so well planted. The normal drive mode was luxurious. The Sport Plus drive mode felt stiffer but still quite normal and everyday drivable. The car felt heavy, but in a good way. I liked the steering feel and the thick steering wheel seemed fine. Impressed by how little wind there was in the cabin with the top down and at 60 mph. The seats, to me, were just ok in that they wee comfortable but I'm not sure how they'd be on a long trip. I hear that they're well liked, so that's good enough for me.

The pops and bangs from the exhaust weren't nearly as loud as I thought they'd be. Their sound was lost in the background noise of the city I was in.

Even though I suspect that I'll get an allocation for a new GTS Boxster this year, I'm kind of leaning towards the Z4 manual now. At 72k with all the options, it seems like a bargain.

The SA and I built up a car as a test order. Skyscraper grey with Cognac interior and the shiny black roof. I chose 19" wheels front and back for ride comfort and I didn't really like any of the OEM wheels on offer that I was shown. I think a satin silver wheel would look best but all the options were high contrast black and silver or all black. In the end, I settled on an all black wheel with a silver rim. I guess I could always have one painted or get aftermarket wheels at some point.

I've got some thinking to do.
