Some good pictures. Are most people using phones at 1x zoom (presumably phones, who Carrie’s a camera these days). I’ve found 2x or 3x zoom gives a better shot in some scenarios giving less of a stretched/perspective and more proportional/isometric look.

You are correct. Longer lenses (or 2x or 3x zoom) foreshorten the subject while wide angles stretch the subject. Each has it's use but I prefer a longer lens when photographing cars in a static pose and a wide lens for action shots if I can get close enough to the car.

I had to look that up. Doing pretty good in the photography category lately. Should take a class to actually know what I am doing. dunno if I want to dig up my old cars and coffee thread.

Shorter lenses with open apertures get you the bokeh though cameras in smart phones these days are getting pretty good at simulating it.
