GM claimed time for the Camaro is only 2s faster than the M3 tested by Sport Auto. GM's times for the C6 Corvette and C6 Z06 have been about 22 seconds and 12 seconds faster than what Sport Auto could achieve, respectively (timed per Sport Auto method of flying laps and omitting the pit straight).

The P Zeroes on the Camaro are not R-comps. Those would be P Zero Corsas. A Camaro with considerably less than 800 hp and a properly sorted suspension would be a potent track weapon; understeer should be pretty easy to dial out.

Pricewise, the Camaro should be cheaper than most BMW's, no?

If you can spent let's say 8-10K on a Camaro SS (new suspension, upgraded interior, performance upgrade...) then you will have a incredible fast (easly over 550hp) and beatiful car for about $40K. Then compare it to your lovely $45K 328 which can not even keep up with Accord V6...

Any response from BMW fan boys?????

Cool

"It doesn't handle well" said by a fanboy is usually false anyway. Fanboys don't watch motorsport events, or put anytime on a track.

I kind of like that idea.
You may publicly ostracize me for this, but I maintain my stand that the Camaro is too big for its own good. I see a lot around, and they look like porkers. They have had a reverse effect on me. Usually, I get thrown off by pictures and love the product in real life, in this case though.....

Why do you even bother...I suppose you get a kick out of riling up BMW owners. Guess everyone needs a hobby.

No too bad at all, IMO. And before the fanboys come with the "7 seconds is a lot" comment ; the CTSV is 13 seconds faster than the M5.
This post wins.

Why would I attack you? I think the Camaro SS is too heavy as well. I would never confuse one for a decent track car. As for its looks, that's a personal thing, I'm someone who can seperate a car's performance and it's looks.

For instance, I think the 135i is hideous, but it's obviously a decent performer (better than the 335i), and has great brakes.

If the truth hurts, it's not really the problem of the messenger is it?

I agree, in person it does look big and tall. I think designers are getting backed into a corner by law makers. They have all this stuff that have to fit into the car (air bags, crumple zones, etc) then they have to make the proportions right, you just end up with a big car.

It has an LS3 engine, anything that tuners have done to Corvette’s will apply. Even if you go with Ligenfelter which offers a 3 year warranty and will be pricier than your average tuner you are looking at about $11,000 for their 570hp upgrade. Or you can go with most regular tuners and get a SC kit (injectors and such included) for $7,000.

It would make a fun weekend or cruiser car I love the looks myself.

People need to get over this crap about Camaros and Mustangs not being able to handle. For example, the 2010 Mustang GT with Track Pack has just about the same performance numbers all around (from acceleration, braking, skid pad, etc.) as a 135i and a 370z. Those cars are considered around here to handle pretty well. The Mustang is on par with those, even though it weighs a little more and has a live rear axle... Not bad! The Camaro, while I wish it would weigh a few hundred lbs less, handles about as well as a 335i, which weighs less.

I'm sick of hearing about how those cars don't handle well just because they're American or because they don't have ideal weight distribution or whatever. It's nonsense!

It was more of a general statement, considering that a lot of people like the new camaro (I too am a secret admirer), but if they made it as big (or small) as the 3er, I may have actually considered it, but as it stands, its too big and too brash and I am not sure how slick it really is (as in cd wise), but given a '69... hubba hubba

+1. For about 24 hours I thought I'd trade my 335i in on a 1ss.... until I sat in one. Wow. Really shitty interior. Beautiful exterior IMO and an incredible engine at an incredible price but I spend that vast majority of my time experiencing my car from THE INTERIOR. Thus, this is my top priority when purchasing a car.

For me, interiors go:
