Fingers crossed my car gets on a boat on the 27th, as then it should be here in about a month. Can't wait to have a Z4 again. |

Patience. I suspect that less than 5 have been delivered at this point (no substantiation for that opinion). IK suspect that the next 30-45 days will see a rush of deliveries. I know my order is the first manual for my dealer and it is still awaiting transport to Bremerhaven (for a week now).

Yeah, Minneapolis / St. Paul metro I'm pretty sure I'm the first order, and it hasn't even shipped. First for my dealer and it beat the other one for the allocation. I know MN isn't a hotbed of convertible sales but I'm just agreeing that not many have made it over yet.
Will be interesting to see the reviews from the mags / youtube sites. Wonder if they're "allowed" to do so yet even if they could. Then again, once you buy a car, you should probably stop reading or watching reviews and just tell yourself it's the best car in the world and you did the right thing. |

Got a chance today for another good drive.
Starting to appreciate the car for what it is, a comfortable+sporty GT/Roadster. The car feels best to me in Sport+ with DSC fully deactivated. In this config it handles more naturally and rotates freely. I suspect DSC is too intrusive. Ofcourse this comes with some inherent risk so need to be measured with throttle and not for everyone/all occasions especially with street driving. There are only two modes for the suspension: comfort and sport. There is a big difference between the two as advertised. Comfort is too soft and almost floaty, and find it squats/dives under acceleration+braking. Sport is better and should be default imo, with an even stiffer setting for Sport+. Still wish suspension was a tad stiffer for my liking but overall it's a fun car in its stock form. |

1000km update, shifting has seemingly gotten better with break-in. Now I'd say it's a very good 6MT, precise and short shifts, and can confidently say most if not all will be very happy with it.

I've also experience with 1M and E46 M3 6MTs. I would say it is improved on the G29, whatever they did. |

That's not to say the G29 6MT transmission is bad in any way. It's quite good. |

The correct porsche to compare is GTS 6MT , i have driven the GT4 too couple of times and found it too stiff for street driving, found the GTS quite good for regular driving.

Will comment that both my Porsches MT's were better than any of my BMW MT's. Found the BMW's to be notchy if you did not have your hand positioned properly. My old Muncie's Chevy, StingRay, GTO & Current TKO-600 were the same. You needed to change your grip on each shift & let the transmission do the work of sliding through the gates. The other solution for drag racing was to do a Slick Shift Mod which came in two flavors. It involved grinding off every other synchronizer tooth turning a 36 tooth synchro into an 18 tooth synchro and doing the same with every second engagement lug. The other version is no syncro & only 5 engagement lugs. This kills street driving & was a track only thing.

BMW is more luxurious, more muted. It’s the same feel it’s always been- at least since the e46 without ZHP. It’s what I want in my M3. I don’t want a corvette or Porsche feel in my BMW. And if someone does want that feel, modifications can be made to get closer to that. It could be worse. And for me it’s just right. |

Think you are missing my point or I did not specify it closely enough. Short History. My BMW 6MT experience goes back to a 2004 330Ci Convertible ZHP. My last one was a 2013 135is Convertible. I sold a Boxster S 6MT to get the Z4. Had a 911 Carrera 4S 6MT before that. Was strictly referring to the transmission & nothing else. IMHO, maybe not so humble, Porsche does a manual transmission better than BMW does. They also do the PDK better than the BMW 7DCT, had one in a 2011 335IS. BMW does the whole GT thing better than Porsche. Porsche is building sports car oriented products.
