On my agenda for tomorrow or Friday. I read somewhere you need to wait a day or two after it leaves the port to get updated info.

Google shows an 11.5 hour drive from the port to my dealer, so lets says that takes 2 days to be safe. How long does it take to clear customs and the VDC?
It's possible but wouldn't put any money on it. It can sometimes take a few short days to get onto a carrier. Once it's on the carrier, it's much easier estimate arrival at the dealership.

I did call today and learned that I am on the Orion Highway, due is Baltimore 4/23. I will leave the ship there to be trucked to the Performance Center in Spartanburg, SC.

Still trying to learn next steps from my dealer regarding the delivery at the Performance Center.

Nice. I need to call still. I would love to do PDC at some point, but the timing won't work out for me on this car. Please let us know how it goes!

Edit: Just called. Also on Orion Highway, as suspected!

I called and verified I'm on the Orion Highway as well. Scheduled to arrive in Brunswick GA on 4/27. Then shipped to the Performance Center.

For PCD, the center will reach out to your CA with 1 or 2 dates for the delivery. Your CA needs to notify you and if you agree to the date, your CA will confirm it with the PC. They then email you a bunch of information. You can then finalize hotel reservations, etc.

You then need to finalize the sale with your dealer about a week before your delivery.

My understanding is that the PC will schedule you some time after the car reaches the VPC. They don't like having to reschedule if there are any delays, so they want to be sure they know when the car will arrive. Last time I did PCD, it was an X5 so they scheduled it as soon as the car was completed since they only have to ship it a half mile down the road.

Thanks for all that additional detail about the PCD. This is my first time going that route.

It’s a blast have fun. The hotel they have you stay at is very nice and good meal. They treat you well. Just wish they would let you fast lap the big track and do as much drifting as you’re able on the wet circle. Have fun!!

Looks like my car is "at the port" over the weekend!!

My car will most certainly be going to the port of NYC. Looks like there is the Grand Pavo that leaves on the 19th and also the Taipan that leaves on the 27th. Anyone with more experience than myself have a good guess if I should be on either one considering when it arrived at the port, or am I being overly optimistic that I'll be on either and it may be even longer than that?

Thanks!

Was about 5.5 weeks at the port for me. Fingers crossed you you, but these might be optimistic based on myself and what others have been seeing time-wise.

How long ago was yours? I do hear that a lot of backlog has cleared over that past few months. I'm prepared for the worst and it's going to be what it's going to be AND my rep did tell me from the start 3-4 months from order to delivery when I ordered in the beginning of March. So, I won't be upset. It's just that the nicer the weather gets, the more optimistic I become

Congrats!

As for me, I think I'll go hang out under a rock for a few weeks and just try not to think about it.

Mine is on the Orion Highway, same as RigaTony1982. Mine was at the port for just over 2 weeks.

Are you sure yours is going to NY? Most northeast shipments go through the VPC in Baltimore. There are a couple ships leaving 4/26-27 (Hawaiian Highway, Thermopylae) that are headed to BAL. You might catch one of them. There are a couple leaving later this week (Patriot, Bess), but they get to BAL about the same time as the one's leaving a week later (more stops along the way.)

Patience is a virtue. Last I checked, Orion Highway was headed to BAL at a blistering 16 kts.

A delivery update, for your comparison purposes:
At the port (Bremerhaven): February 27
On ship (Hawaiian Highway): March 22
At the port (Brunswick): April 12
Contacted for PCD: April 17

I had thought that after arriving, stateside, at the port (Brunswick), that the car would be shipped to the Vehicle Processing Center, and that my status would read "In Transit" once again; this assumption was incorrect.

I had also thought, based on all my research, that the Performance Center Delivery date would be 3-4 weeks (+) out from the date of being contacted by my sales advisor. This also was incorrect. The only date I was offered (May 1st) is exactly two weeks from today. Scheduling flights was expensive, and arranging for PPF on such a short notice, was very difficult and pricey. Given that we would have to stay at least another 4 nights in the area, and that the factory tours have been cancelled for the time being, we decided to forgo the PCD at this time.

Pretty disappointed about the "Take it or leave it" attitude, with only two weeks notice, but still looking forward to getting the car and enjoying it as the nice weather begins!

I just wanted to share my experience so others could plan (or not) accordingly. YMMV.

Thanks for the input. So with my car ETA Brunswick on 4/27, I expect my CA to get the scheduling call the beginning of May.

I'll take what day they give me (assuming it's only one). Scheduling is simple as I'm retired. I'm not worried about airfare as I'll do a one-way car rental (it's about 600 miles) to get there. I've done the plant tour, so not a big deal if it's not available. I also don't bother with PPF.

The only thing that will annoy me is if they give me a date that runs up against Memorial Day weekend as that will add a lot of traffic and run up prices.

Typically about 3 days.

The real question is how long it waits "At the port" before it's on the ship.

Shipping Schedules

I posted a couple of the ship schedules from Bremerhaven to the US. As my car is now enroute, I'll provide the following search info to help anyone else who wants to do it.

Guessing when your car may be loaded on a ship involves know when there is a ship headed to your destination. The majority of BMWs arrive in the US at one of 4 vehicle processing centers (VPCs). They are Baltimore MD, Brunswick GA, Port Hueneme CA, and Tacoma WA.

BMW's primary shipper is Wallenius Wilhelmsen. They also use ARC and K Line. Links to their schedules are:

https://www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com/schedules
https://www.arcshipping.com/schedule
https://www.klineglobalroro.com/schedules.html

It's best to just search by route for Europe to North America. Then scan for ships stopping in Bremerhaven and then your destination port.

To find ships actual location you can search on:

https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais...y:53.8/zoom:10
or
https://www.vesselfinder.com/

HURRAY! I'm in transit as of today, so I assume I'm on Tirranna. Says Baltimore on April 29th so maybe 10-12 days until the dealer after that? Got to now make arrangements for PPF install.

Give the Genius a call tomorrow or the next day. They can confirm your cars schedule, both ship and port.

Being in FL, I expect they've shipped it to Savannah which is Tirranna's port following Baltimore, which the WW schedule shows it arriving in Savannah on May 4.

It's typically less than 2 weeks to get to your dealer after it arrives.

Pretty sure I'm NYC bound. My last M car came in through that way, but who knows

Is my best bet here just to wait until my status is "In Transit" and then call the Genius line or is it worth reaching out to my SA and they may have better information even before it's put on a vessel?

Thanks guys!
