The Delivery Stop is effective 09 JUN 21 on certain MY2021 BMWs produced between 07-21 MAY 21. They will need to add the Receiver Audio Module to those vehicles and they were held at the Vehicle Delivery Center for repair prior to delivering to the dealer.

The RAM is an audio amplifier with integrated tuners and an integrated sound processor. i.e. the HK Surround in the Executive Package i believe.

That explains it. My car was completed and QA’d in April, well ahead of the issue. I did order the Executive Package, so dodged bullet #2… I just confirmed today that my son will be able to come with me for the Performance Center delivery. This is going to be awesome!

A part of me is glad that I didn’t realize (my own stupid fault) that the executive package had the upgraded sound system. As much as I would have PREFERRED to have it…. Not worth further delay.

At almost 26, when he visits he’s more into the “Hey dad, can I take your car tonight?” Phase. I’m pretty sure he’s as excited about the Z4 as I am.

LoL my wife is from Indonesia and has a belief that wind can get in their body and make them sick. She got my son believing too. He also thinks that everything will blow away if the top is down haha! He is 10. So I look forward to our first drive to prove it all wrong. :P

Mine was completed 18 MAY and is already on a vessel. Chances are yours is completed and either on a vessel or awaiting one. I suggest checking with your SA to get the full details like I did. It will take a couple of days, but it is good information.

LOL yeah ya know it's one of those beliefs that's plagued me for the last 16 years. Wife hates it even if I use ceiling fans.

That's why I was perplexed when she said she'd be grumpy if i get this because she'll never be a passenger (since it's a two seater and I have a 10 year old son).

I ask.. what does it matter? The whole purpose of being in this car is to have the top down and enjoying the weather while driving. You hate all aspects of this. (I know this because she didn't like top being down in my Eclipse back in the day too).

Regardless, I'll just need to take her out for a drive and enjoy the weather one time and see how she likes it. Fearing of getting off topic.... i'll leave it at that.

Upgrading the sound system in a "noisy" car is a waste of money. If you want sound then choose one of the hard tops like the sedans or X5. Our X5 is supremely quiet.

You WILL hear highway noise in this soft top. Big trucks roaring by in another lane are very loud with the top up.

While in the past you are spot on, living with my F23 for 6 years taught me that it was pretty quiet with the top up. Surprisingly so. With the top down, it was mostly wind buffeting. Turning up the volume drowned it out in my experience. From all reports, the G29 seems to be quieter top up or down. I guess we will see.

If the stop delivery feature is tied to the HK sound systems, it may be a little wait; BMW has been removing the HK system as an option on many models due to part shortages.

My Z4 has the HK system but I have used it little since car's engine/exhaust sound great. I am sure the stock system will sound fine, the cabin is small and it doesn't require a lot of volume to fill up.

The stop delivery was the receiver audio module. In an earlier post, I detailed what it is. I am more thinking it is a smart amp. Now that mine is on the water, it has the module and the HK surround. That is still showing on the My Garage.

I believe they are removing the HK sound in other models as the Z4 has the HK 208W system as base and the HK 408W surround in the Executive package. I will check on delivery to confirm though.

So.. I’ve noticed on cars that don’t have the HK upgrade, the speakers by the windows don’t have the label “Harmon Kardon” so I’m not entirely sure it’s still a Harmon Kardon system.

I'm not sure on other models, but the Z4 has the HK system and I have not seen any notice of removal specifically on the Z4. I have seen that on the 4 series though.

I'm speaking more in line with the difference between non-executive package versus executive package.

It was just an observation I made. Cars Z4's I drove with the executive package had the "Harmon Kardon" label on the tweeter located near the windows, but other Z4s without the executive package didn't have that label on the speakers.

Just speculating that the system itself may not be HK for those that didn't get the executive package (like myself).

I believe it is an HK system or it would not be on your build sheet. What I do know is the speaker cones may be cardboard or plastic instead of polypropylene from the higher end models. In the end, I do not think you will notice. Like others have said, the exhaust note is the only music worth listening too.
