Oem alloys uk

Hi guys. Fairly new here so please go easy on me.

I picked up my dream car last week and just got the devastating news that all 4 alloys are buckled. I trust this information is 100% correct as I used to work along side the company that have told me.

I’m looking at a UK cost for the Z3 19” alloys in bicolour cerium grey. Tyres are sorted just the alloys if anyone knows?

Thanks

First off... welcome.

I can't answer your question, but do you have any idea how ALL FOUR rims were buckled?

new they were around 5500 euro at the dealership belgium (i think thats including tires), if i remember correctly.
So i'm guessing around 4500, 4000 pounds

these days you can easily find them used so i would try going that route

found a site in the uk that sells them at a discount currently

I’d personally consider it free choice now then across the whole wheel spectrum… unless of course you are insistent on OEM.

Are they forged I doubt it TBF, could pick up some nice flow formed wheels and correct a little offset too for a nicer look.

EBay is often your friend. Many OEM dealers selling there too. Other than that Dealer quotes perhaps, Cotswold BMW used to be great for M Performance parts for example, had quite a reputation for it.

Chris, thanks for your thoughts. I did also think of this option. My only thoughts are the car is PCP so if in the end of the agreement I need to return the car I doubt they would appreciate non oem wheels.

Ok so. Thankfully the garage has explained they are happy to replace the alloys with secondary market ones. I’m thinking of going black to make it look a bit different and to put this pain behind me 😂

What’s the thoughts on this and any recommendations?

A lot of the cheap aftermarket wheels are simple cast alloys that are a lot heavier than OEM, adding significantly to your unsprung weight, a bad thing for a number of reasons. You should avoid them.

Surely has to be better than driving around on 4 buckled alloys though right?

In my opinion, no. I would prefer a credit on the sale price so that I could apply it toward good wheels or I would cancel the purchase. There are plenty of decent lightweight aftermarket wheels selling for a reasonable price such as some from OZ Racing, Forged One Competition, and Enkei that weigh between 20 and 25 lbs compared to the cheap wheels weighing closer to 30 lbs.

Not only does that extra weight have a negative effect on handling, it also places more stress on other suspension components, reducing their life.

They have agreed for me to pick the wheels. So I’m trying to get an idea of what needs to be done to get the look right and not change any of the issues you stated
