Thinking of buying the 50th anniversary Badges

They look really good especially on the wheels.

$30 for an entire set bonnet/boot (hood/trunk for mericans), sticker for steering wheel, and all 4 wheels can be found on Ali express

You pay $70K+ for an M40 then go cheap for Chinese crap accessories. That doesn't make sense. I don't care for the bonnet/boot 50 set, sticking with the originals, but I did bite for the wheel set, genuine BMW. Nothing against China but who knows what you're getting from Ali Express. That shit isn't going on my Zed.

To the best of my knowledge, BMW never made a badge for the steering wheel which was holding me back from buying an entire set for my Z4. It pains me because the 50 year badges would look fabulous on my Misano blue color.

I didn’t like them at first, but then I saw them in real life and rapidly grew on me. I think I’d also spec OEM ones: looking and touching the ones I now have you can see and feel the quality.

While a lot of anything OEM may be made in China, and can be very good, the risk is not worth it. In general, you definitely get what you pay for. A phrase I picked up recently on a Harley forum “buy once, cry once”.

It's a badge, it's not like there is much they can get wrong on it. If you don't trust ali express, you can probably also buy it in some American shops, or maybe even amazon, where the vendor already did the trial and error bit, its probably a bit more expensive there but less risk. I got some of my parts like that (but then from stores in europe)

Just pay attention to the sizes z4 trunk badge is larger than older model bmw's (same size as in the front), i don't remember exactly how many mm
And the wheels are smaller size compared to older generation bmw's.

For 30$ you can try a few times before you reach the price bmw charges for them.

So far the only parts i've really had problems with, were the parts coming from the US

These are badges not some internal or external part.

Also the steering wheel badge is a sticker you don't have to mess with the steering wheel.

The badges look the same as oem

Exactly. Everything on Amazon comes from alibaba bulk purchases which they sell for many times the price.

I have seen m style mirrors on Amazon for $500 when it's obviously a $12 bulk pair they got from alibaba. I checked Amazon and the 50th anniversary Badges were also mostly from alibaba bulk purchases but more expensive. The badges look solid from aliexpress I mean like.you say it's just a badge. I also got the right size. 84mm front and rear. And 56mm wheels I think

I got the full original set (front and back badges and wheel center caps) from BMW.

Like some of the posters here I wanted a full conversion to the 50 Years Anniversary badges so I did a bit of searching and got the steering badge from here:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1258654...isting_details

Installation is very easy (just double side sticker) and the quality of the badge is very good.

Nice. So are you a real Thai or a foreigner like me because boy let me tell you, Thailand is like my second home. I wish I was back there again..

I owned a condo in Pattaya (what foreigner doesn't lol) but sold it.

It turned out I got sick of the foreigners having ruined Pattaya so made phuket my main stay in Thailand. Yea there are still tourists everywhere (let's not forget the Russians and Ukrainian imports) and some Australians (not many Americans as they're not used to leaving the country much less to Asia lol), but phuket is paradise. Absolutely no question the most beautiful place in the world. I've been to Hawaii twice and Hawaii has NOTHING on the beauty of phuket. Let's be honest Asian cities are world class if you've been to singapore/Hong Kong you'd know. But phuket has my heart.

BTW in the box that had the badges you posted in your pic, the scenery there is California where I live. California has nice Mediterranean roads for driving, but phuket and Thailand is for living 😍

Does the steering badge have all the raised silver edges like the oem badges?
And can you see any of the badge beneath it after you stick it on?

Hello my brother.

I'm a foreigner who has been working in Bangkok for over 5 years.

I never was a fan of Phuket or Pattaya since like you said, they mainly consist of foreign tourists. I don't mind going over there for short holidays but I can never imagine staying there long-term.

Phuket is still beautiful and the beaches are clean. Pattaya is filthy and the beaches have sewage dumped right into the ocean. The last time I went to jomtien in Pattaya I packed my bags with my wife and flew to phuket which was much cleaner and beautiful

Must be nice being in Bangkok I miss Thailand. Everytime I land in Bangkok even at the airport I feel an overwhelming sense of peace and calm that I can't explain it's so amazing. When I come back to los angeles or anywhere in America it's stressful right away it's like there's less freedom here than in Thailand that's for sure

Yes it does.

You can't see the original badge under it. It's slightly bigger and designed to cover over the original badge.

My 2020 Z4 front and rear 50 badges are part number 51 14 8 193. They are the same size. Getting the old ones off without damaging anything is difficult. I used a heat gun set at 350 and used a number of plastic trim tools as well as fishing line to remove mine.

I know it’s off topic but I’m reading the above as “fuc& it”. Is that how it’s pronounced? If so a perfect place to retire!! Lol.

do you have any tips on removing the Front badge on my z4?

i was easily able to remove the trunk badge and replace it with the 50 year badge.

i have the front badge completely loose but i cant seem to pop it off. i have tried fishing line and many plastic prying tools but it wont budge.

I ordered them during production and they look great. However, I do miss having the matching roundel on the steering wheel. Not sure why they didn't make that part of the package. Frustrating.

I swapped all of my badges out during PPF. I ordered the 50th Anniversary badges in December, but since the car was built this year, the factory deleted that option.

Anyway, the steering wheel emblem I found was on eBay. Not very expensive, but looks pretty good, with embossing, etc. Needed to use a slightly thicker adhesive tape to attach, as it was not a perfect fit, but I am happy with the end result. The red elements match my replaced Start and Volume buttons!

Is the trunk and hood emblem of the same size, and if so which one?
