Service questions

I have a 2019 model, Sdrive30, 8,703 miles

The MyBMW app says:
Engine oil: Due in August 2023 OR 7,003 miles.

In the car it says:
Engine oil: 08/2023 IN 7000 miles

Question-1: is the app and car stating I need an oil change in August 2023 or ~15,000 miles, which ever comes first? or was I supposed to change it at 7,000 miles. It's not clear to me.

Carfax shows the the car had the oil changed and a brake fluid flush at 4,300 miles. The car and app state Brake Fuid Due in July 2023

Question-2: If the Brake fuid was changed at 4300 miles, why would need to change it so soon?

I have the maintenace book in the glove box but every car is named in it except the Z4

It means you need an oil change in the sooner of 3 months or 7000 miles.

The brake fluid is most likely a time requirement as well. Brake fluid is highly susceptible to contamination over time and brakes are fairly important, so...

For the oil, it is which ever comes first. I think the break fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles or three years, which ever comes first. Many folks will change their fluids more often than what is published by BMW just to be on the safe side.

On the break fluid flush, my guess is that maybe they didn’t reset it in the board computer properly so it doesn’t know that was done?

Oil is basically two things, the oil itself and the additives (the adpack). The additives are what lose their effectiveness over time, that's why oil changes have a time limit regardless of miles.

BMW CCA requires brake fluid flushes within six months of a track event. I don't track my Z4 but I still get the fluid changed every year. As noted, it does wear. The worst that can happen is moisture or condensation gets in the reservoir. Regular brake fluid flushes mitigate that risk.

YouTube has videos on how to change the reported service intervals. Basically, it's toying around with the control stalks and putting the car in service mode, then you can reset the intervals. The dealer or service garage should be doing this for you, though.
