UK z4 m40i Recurring engine management light problem
Hi Everyone. I have a 2019 z4 m40i (UK) which I bought at the end of last year. It's had a recurring orange EML issue, since purchase, various updates having not solved the problem.
I'm escalating it with the dealer that sold me the car and he's told me the below - does anyone here know of this being true or the dealer talking bs. Thanks in advance. "It would appear that issues around the BMW Z4 Engine Management Light are also not isolated to your car. I am told that issues with the amber engine warning light are known and there has also been some confusion around the cars ECU showing out of date software or software that has been “modified” when this is not the case. BMW are aware of the issue which manifests itself as a petrol particulate filter full warning. The car then lights up the engine management warning which can be reset for a short period but will return. For your piece of mind, these issues have not yet caused any fault or failure in the vehicles, and they continue to drive normally despite the amber warning. It looks as if both our workshop and the other garages have completed software updates and resets as we did not have the prior experience to know any different. These were always destined to failure as they do not address the cause of the problem which appears to be a design flaw with the vehicle software. The specialist believe that they can permanently rectify the issue." |
