Hey guys, just put in a deposit for a custom build Z4 on Friday (m40i, handschalter,) and according to the dealer-

They put in the order but now waiting for it to be “accepted” by the factory and get a production number.

They don’t have an estimated time. What do I expect next?

Once you get that, you’ll be able to add the car to your garage on MyBMW and can track it through the various stages of production.

If they don't have an allocation to give you, and there is no one else ahead of you in line at your dealer, possibly a month or longer. They only get allocations once a month and the prevailing wisdom and math says every dealer is getting about one Z4 M40i per month, on average.

They sold you a car they don't have a allocation for. Timing is variable based on what their past sales have been. The more they sell the more allocations they get.

I have gotten production numbers in a day or few days on the cars I have ordered.

Only miss was on a 2011 1 series. Kept getting stalled by the dealer. Saw a 2011 335is I liked at a competitor, bought it & cancelled the other 1 series.

All but 2 of my cars have been ordered. First question I ask the dealer is do you have an allocation for xxx?

Nothing keep waiting for an allocation , i hope you didnt pay a huge deposit

You may want to call a few other dealers to see if they have an allocation. Worth an hour or so of your time.

This. And don't wait. I wasted a few weeks waiting for an allocation at my closest dealer...called another dealer an hour away who had an allocation sitting there waiting for me. I'm now "scheduled for production"

Just got an allocation this morning
