Looks comfy.
That fawn that I posted was bedded 50-feet from a camping family, with a dog. The dog barked at me and the fawn's ears responded, but it quickly gauged it as a non-threat. The grass was so tall and thick this summer that I find major grass compression showing where large groups of deer napped very close to people paths. Dave

This came out better than I thought it would. It has been a very warm weekend here, and I figured there would be too much atmospheric disturbance to get a decent shot. 700mm handheld.

Amber Waves of Grain
Purple Mountains Majesty...Amber Waves by David Stephens, on Flickr This is actually what Katherine Lee Bates saw when she looked down from Pike's Peak and began penning the words to "America The Beautiful" in 1895. Many think it was fields of wheat, but I doubt it. This prairie grass still covers much of Colorado and would have, almost certainly, dominated the view to the East from Pike's.

Yeah, but "Amber waves of grain" sounds better than "prairie grass."
Nice shot, DC.

I had a trip down to Edinburgh and a ride on the new Borders Railway today.
When I got back into Edinburgh Waverley this afternoon, this very colourful Freightliner liveried Class 90 electric loco was standing as Main Line Pilot. Located at strategic points on our East Coast Main Line, between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley stations, these Main Line Pilots are kept ready to go as rescue locos to cover any failures. Throughout the railway industry they are known as 'Thunderbirds' for obvious reasons . . . . if you're old enough to remember the TV series. Freightliner Class 90 by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr

First stab at an Silver Efex B&W conversion. I'm a bit on the fence with the sky, but I like the rest of it.

I agree about the sky. Normally I'd want it a shade darker, but then it'll blend too much with the stone. I'd play with making it lighter, but I'm guessing that I'd end up about where you are now. Dave
