No Heads Up available

My dealer is trying to put in my order for a 2022 M40i and as of yesterday they said no availability of heads up display.

Check BMWUSA's site; the Z4 M40i configurator has a Premium package available with the HUD included. Ask your dealer about that.

same for mine. Had to cancel the order.
Who wants a G29 M40i with no HUD.
These cars are going to be worthless like a black sheep in a few years.
Do we know when the shortage or the option will be back up available for order?

There are a few out there in the wild. Did you do a state wide search for M40i inventory?

The 100 mile radius on the BMW website is a joke and really limits you. Do a Google search and make a list of all the dealers in the state and then do a new vehicle search on each of their respective websites. It takes longer but will hopefully yield positive results.

That is my color combination and after doing a search my dealer trucked my 2022 Milano blue/ ivory M40i down from a dealer in PA.

Have you asked your dealer to do an in state and out of state search in the BMW data base for unsold inventory? Also have him check unsold incoming on the water, once the car arrives at the port it can be shipped to him. Dealers make trades like this all of the time.

unfortunately my dealer is not as "into helping me" as yours was.
I contacted the one at peake but it is missing some options.

he is trying to put a request for fabrication and it looks like the M40i might have HUD. we will see when they process the order.

But I am trying to locate one as well. I just wish BMW made there search available ...

Sorry to hear that, my dealer BMW of Fort Lauderdale has an amazing staff and really put out to assist me in my search as I only wanted the Milano blue/ ivory combination in the M40i and I did not want to wait for a car from the factory.

If Peake doesn’t have the ivory interior I suggest that you try another dealer and tell them what you want. My earlier suggestion about incoming cars that have not hit the port yet is a good approach as they can make a deal and ship it to your area plus they would not be affected by the chip shortage like new factory production.

I heard it affects only some of models, unfortunately all variants of Z4 are on the list.
Strange since BMW kept it on 1 and 2 series M performance models.

Might be related to limited stock in specific factories.

Probably because Z4 isn't exactly one of their highest selling models. Wouldn't be surprised if they'd rather skimp out of those over other, more popular, choices.

The Z4 is manufactured by Magna Steyr at a factory in Gras, Austria where they also produce the Supra.
