Congrats to MAX on a great drive, only real challenge was closing the door on BOT at the start, then it was a nice Sunday drive after that.

Quite a snooze fest actually, there where only a handful of passes the entire race at the bottom of the grid.

Happy for Sainz and Lando for finishing on the podium...disaster in the pits and strategy for Merc.

Sure brutal all round, but totos statement on stopping an inch too early is odd. Haas and AM pit crews appear well trained to adjusting to drivers errors in the pits. I’m sure Guenther will offer his opinion on the matter.
It would be fitting if Bottas uttered 'A wheel A wheel for my Kingdom' as he sat helpless in his 12. (as opposed to a horse..

My friend it's been suggested by Brawn jokingly that Merc gave RB a gift at Monaco.. If I were Toto I would send the freed drilled wheel nut from BOT's car to Brawn as a return of humour

I'm actually more curious to see if they find out it wasn't hardened or hard coated properly. That seems more likely to me than cross threading, or really anything else I can think of.

The initial report is that the wheel nut "machined" itself into the axle....why would the nut be harder than the axle, thus allowing the axle to be damaged?

From a metallurgical perspective, wouldn't the axle be harder and tougher than the wheel nut??

A report described that the right front wheel gun completely sheared off the teeth it was supposed to lock onto.

Thank you 3798j -
If I'm viewing this correctly, the wheel nut teeth were ground off or sheared off by the wheel gun?? Is that a correct interpretation??

If yes, would this mean the wheel nut metal composition is too soft and the rotational force of the gun overwhelmed the wheel nut??

Yep...take a look...a MB wheel nut and a Force India wheel nut socket (not a fit for the MB, but you can get the idea).

The obvious question....why is the wheel nut metallurgy so soft it can be sheared off by the gun??

I wonder if Bottas thought about not lifting off the throttle and allowing Verstappen to drive into him.
It would have been fun for a moment until utter carnage ensued.

If he really was “MERC’s lapdog” as two on here suggest, that’s probably what we would have seen.

As far as Ric it really shows how certain driving styles do not work in certain cars. You can adapt or end out of F1 due an incompatible driving styles with certain cars.
I was just rewatching the Historics at Monaco, and you can see how much fun has been sucked out with the latest F1 turbo car generation out of this track.
Also feel bad for RIC, I was hoping to see Lando/Carlos show taken to the next level, but Daniel isn’t there with the MCL.
And for once, it’s great to see a podium with 3 teams represented, and none of them is MB 😂

Make it 3...BOT is a worthless lapdog. Why piss off HAM with a better replacement until you need to?

All MB wants is a driver good enough to secure constructor championships. Toto doesn't want another "Starwars" on his hands. Once grandma can't accomplish that mission he will be gone. Should HAM leave BOT certainly isn't talented enough to be a #1. RUS stepped in the car for one race and proved that.

Did Max win the WDC and someone not tell me? How are we crowing this much over one uneventful race? Like a win is a win, but this is overdoing it.

You don't like people talking on a forum?
Then dont read.....

Did anyone saw that nice little drift VER made in the last corner before the final straight/finish?
You can say a lot about VER, but you can't say he's a boring driver (of course he has done some crazy drifts before...)

For sure without VER F1 would be extremely boring.
