Bit of a yawnfest as usual (unless it rains).
Mostly agree with the above

Sucks for Leclerc...he would have most likely have won from pole.

Vestappen had a decent race but should have had pole with the significant car advantage he had.

Mercedes have some serious head scratching to do to figure how they managed to get Hamiltons set up so wrong in what was clearly a car capable of a front 2 row start. Especially as he had asked for a set up to dial in more front tyre temps but got something different.
And then the strategy call to go for an undercut early pit stop when Hamilton had been nursing his tyres for a long first stint to gain the overcut.

Perez instead played the strategy Hamilton thought he was on, to great advantage.....probably the best race of everyone.

No idea whats going on with Ricciardo...the man who beat Verstappen at Red BUll...Is Lando really that good? Could be I guess.

Err Max was on the cusp of taking pole before Chas decided to inadvertently wreck his car.

Toto blames Bottas for pit stop blunder

I knew somehow it was Bottas fault.

“Valtteri stopped a bit too early. This meant the mechanic had to use the wrench at an angle. The awkward angle damaged the wheel nut and we couldn't get the tyre off," said team principal Wolff in conversation with the German Auto, Motor und Sport.

Toto treats Bottas as a second class citizen even when he is running P2. Bottas should write a book on how to control ego and anger - I’d purchase it.

Have you seen the wheel nuts on the Mercs, not hexagon sided or anything but a cone shaped nut with just two ear type projections from it where the gun slots in them. It's these ears that were grinded away completely and it will only be removed back at Brackley by drilling.

Copy&paste from the (Dutch) motorsport.com :

•Max Verstappen came back to everything that had been said prior to the weekend after his strong victory in the streets of Monaco. "Deeds not words," said the Limburger, shortly after taking the lead in the championship from Lewis Hamilton.

Just a comment on the site :

•No Hamilton, Monaco is a course where the driver shows his qualities and not the car where you start on pole and accelerate for 2 hours and no one can follow because of the horsepower surplus •No Hamilton here you see the driving skills of a driver and honestly you have it not when it comes to such a lap. It's very easy to attack your team like that.

Those 2 ears are just the retainers. The wheel nut has many more contact points on it for the gun to hit, like this...

i feel like not much credit left for Bottas.. maybe thats why he is extra calm.. and at the same time, team was pushing him to overtake Max.. he wasnt looking confident and fast enough for that job..

Maybe he should stop racing like a second-class citizen. If its "the car" then he should consistently be outperforming the field with the years he’s had in the car. He is not and if he missed his mark again, Toto as the right to be upset, as any team principal would. Bottas needs to be better. Mercedes as a team also needs to be better. I'm sure everyone will be getting an ear full today as they should. What matters is how they respond, as any top team does make mistakes, but the best teams use it to get better. How many times as Horner thrown driver #2 under the bus when they have trouble driving that car in their first year? He does it weekly if they are not in second.

Here my takes on the race.

-Norris and Sainz on the podium together had me in my feels.
-Congrats to Max on a very controlled race.
-RBR hit the strategy absolutely perfect with Perez and leapfrogged him from 8th? up to 4th! Amazing
- Great day for Vettel, he lets me down constantly, but I still enjoy seeing him do well
- Gutted for Charles, Ferrari F'd up big time (hindsight is 2020 though)
- Crazy how little passing happened on track in the race. Seemed even less than normal. Mick passed Mazespin on lap one, thats the only one I remember...
- Even in the Merc, Ham couldnt get a single pass in.
- Poor Bottas. What are the freaking odds.
- Ric needs to make it happen soon or I will begin to lose my faith in him.

This race has become a snoozer Monaco isn't what it was in the past. The cars are to big and fast for this track. There is no room for a pass here.

As far as Ric it really shows how certain driving styles do not work in certain cars. You can adapt or end out of F1 due an incompatible driving styles with certain cars.

that’s wild, I saw the metal flecks during the second attempt. I bet they redesign it entirely.

Sure brutal all round, but totos statement on stopping an inch too early is odd. Haas and AM pit crews appear well trained to adjusting to drivers errors in the pits. I’m sure Guenther will offer his opinion on the matter.
