How does the top handle the spring pollen dump?

I have an open carport with lots of trees close by. Come spring they dump pollen like you can't believe covering our cars. I questioned my CA and he said pollen will ruin the cloth, which really doesn't make much sense considering BMW design goals and the need to fend off bird poop, road dirt, etc.

Question - counter to what he's saying can it be washed off, easily dislodged from the fabric during a shampoo or should the car be kept covered or protected by enclosing the carport? Wife has been fighting me to keep it open for 15 years since we built here. We're in the country and the open space has some fine views.

This is my 2nd Z4 (previously a 2006 3.0i) soft top in addition to a 2017 M240i convertible I leased. My cars are not garaged or even a carport. I never had any problem removing pollen from the roof of any of them and they were not ruined, you can either rinse off or vacuum off with a soft brush attachment I have also had luck blowing it off with a leaf blower as long as it was dry and not rained on. I've had no luck changing profile pic though.

I live in the piney woods in GA and have to park outside. I blast the top with the hose or use my mini air blower. My top is treated with 303.

What "version" of 303 did you use? My boat's vinyl loves 303.

I used the 303 Fabric Guard with the green label. About $28.

Pollen washes right off with a hose (no need for soap even). Bird poop takes a little more effort. I just store mine outside without any cover. No glaring issues so far after being out all spring and summer.

The BMW convertible top are quality products. Mine sit out doors 24/7/365. Oldest was 10 years & top looked good as new with no special care. Current oldest top is 7 years old again with no visible wear.

Z4 looks to be the same or similar material.
