Sooo much racing this weekend!

IMSA Long Beach Grand Prix
ELMS first round
WEC first round
F1 Chinese Grand Prix

I'm going to need lots of stimulants lol

Anyone else running the gamut this weekend?

I'll watch the supercross and F1. No stimulants needed, that's why you're watching the racing, silly!

Black Flag has a nice list over at Jalopnik.

Pretty incredible weekend. I'm excited to see WEC kick off. Too bad no one has fielded a BMW this year.

Speaking of which, is there an M6 LMGTE car in development? I know they're similar in performance to IMSA GTLM, but AFAIK, IMSA hasn't adopted the GTE standard like they have with GT3 and GTD.

Bristol is a race that even non-NASCAR racing fans will appreciate. I watched for a while, but (and I know this is silly) I get dizzy watching NASCAR short-track races. It's kind of conflicting, because the short-tracks are the best racing in the NASCAR series, with lots of variation in racing line, lots of passing, and lots of trading paint. Bristol is especially cool, with all the sparks flying from the cars bottoming out and stuff. It's kind of like NASCAR's Sebring. I just can't watch for long, because of all the roundy-round.

I wasn't home and came back and watched everything.

Rosberg might be ahead but doesn't mean much if he cocks it up at the end.

Jonathan Rea seems to have the field mentally. They only react when he cocks it up.

NASCAR comes at killer times at GMT+2

NASCAR is hard to compare with open wheel racing, but it can be fun to watch. Bristol is a crazy venue. I was on a business trip to NC a few years ago and went to Bristol one weekend and Martinsville the next. Totally different experience than a long track for the reasons you mentioned. Bristol is particularly unique since the track is in a stadium surrounded completely by closed seating. There is nowhere for the sound to go except through your body. I had earplugs and a radio earmuffs and the sound was still too much. Anyway, fun to do once.

I live in the Bay Area and go to Sonoma for different types of races. NASCAR puts on a good show there too.

Weekend definitely didn't disappoint.

I forgot to add PWC and Indy in there, both of which I watched.

Hartley's crash into that Gulf Porsche was just nuts. I can't imagine top brass was happy with that, but the #2 car got the win with Audi cheating (yet again) lol. Who woulda thought??

I remember reading up on this a few months ago, and basically you're talking very minor differences in aero is the only difference in GTLM and true GTE. I even downloaded the PDF spec sheets for both classes and really couldn't figure out what they were talking about, so if someone wanted to run in the GTE class at Le Mans or in WEC, there wouldn't be many changes, which is why the GTLM cars from IMSA can run at Le Mans like the Ferraris and Corvettes.

Porsche is coming back to WEC with a factory backed effort with the new 991 RSRs (or whatever variant they run) so it would be nice if BMW would pony up for a pair of cars but I don't see that happening at all. McLaren too.
