I keep watching these debates and feel like every single democrat candidate is essentially a robber who steals my wallet then offers to pay for my lunch, grinning with self righteousness on how great they are for the downtrodden.

What a bunch of leaches.

Don't forget they keep a nice cut for themselves in the process.

LOL - well said. When Michael "Too Much Soda" Bloomberg is not far left enough for your base, you know they have went too far.

I honestly don't understand. I know many democrats and liberals, and none are in line with what these candidates are preaching. Most are appalled that Biden is the only candidate they would even consider voting for.

All the democrats had to do to win in 2020 was not be crazy. That's it. Just don't be crazy and it's a lock for the 2020 election to go to a democrat. Could they do that? Nope.

And, as an accountant, you feel the GOP's current tax cut/deficit spending a better option?

It's raining hard over camp Biden.

All of the TALF loans have long since been paid back, have they not?

Any evidence to indicate that Rosemont shouldn't have qualified for TALF? Any evidence that they didn't pay the loan(s) back in full and on time?

Better option than what the democrats are proposing? Yes.

Good option? Hell no.

But - I don't get to pick a good option, I have to pick between cutting my taxes and increasing the deficit by $200bn a year or massively increasing my taxes and increasing the deficit by $1tr per year - well, I am going to pick the former every time. Not sure how anyone can think the latter is the smarter choice.

Neither are the correct fiscal choice, but one is very obviously the lessor of two evils. Do you disagree?

Nope, I don't.

I don't think there's a chance in hell any of those $1T/yr proposals ever make it through Congress in the next 8-12 years, regardless of who is in the White House, BTW.

Just making sure we were agreed that the GOP is far from being the "party of fiscal responsibility" that they once advertised themselves as.

If the senate and house are controlled by the same party who holds the white house, I can see several of the insane proposals getting through - specifically;

- Some version of medicare for all
- Draconian regulations on any fossil fuel energy sources
- Dramatic increase in spending across the board
- Taxpayer funded college tuition

With respect to the GOP and fiscal responsibility - they certainly not that - but only when looked at in a vacuum. When compared to the reality of politics today, they are indeed the fiscally responsible party as compared to the democrats for sure.

I would argue that "less irresponsible" isn't the same as "responsible", but I concede the point you're making.

I don't see much hope for the Dems that they will control both houses of Congress and the Presidency, even if they did, there are some moderate Dems that wouldn't go along, methinks.

Why do we have this perennial argument about which side is more fiscally responsible?

Any significant cuts to anything is a non-starter. Some would be fine with military cuts, some with entitlements - 'don't gore my ox'.

Does the gov't even use zero based budgeting across the board? I don't think so.

I agree and at this point unless one side controls everything nothing that might make them look good will get passed. It is no longer what is best for the people/country - it is what is good for our party. And when they do control everything - they are scared of going too far and losing it. I'm thinking like old Assault Weapons Ban where so many Dems were voted out the very next election. That is why they talk such a good game about guns, but when they had the #'s under Obama's first term they could not even get it past the senate that they controlled. I'm sure many Clinton era Dem's remembered that lesson.

I'm a conservative guy - but the Repubs would stall the Dems just as bad as the Dems are stalling Trump.

Until we have a TRUE 3rd (or 4th or 5th) party - this will get progressively worse in my opinion.

Too much money and power on the line for either side to worry about anyone but themselves.

This is the best they could do after 4 years of Trump. Sad. Instead of picking the right candidate they wasted everyone's time on stupid investigations and a go no where impeachment process all the time massively alienating their base who are NOT nearly as far left as Bernie or what the Dems would want you to believe etc.

The left used to run HARD on immigration and jobs. They are now the party of open boarders and oh well you are fucked American worker embrace Socialism and Globalism.

Geez....that shill video is so off base its not even funny. 4.1% quarterly GDP growth =/= annual GDP growth. The closest Trump got to 4% GDP growth was in 2018 with 2.9%....the same rate of GDP growth that we had in 2015.
