If BMW came out and reduced the price of the M5 competition in the SAME model year 10-15k$, I would think there would be quite a bit of outrage as well

Right but have they ever done that and would they ever do that? That is what I am finding humor in. Only company I know of that has done this in recent years is Volvo with the XC90.

I don't think I can recall any other car company pulling this stunt neither

One would think that Tesla would just offer a factory to dealer incentive to reduce the price and move units, but since they don't really have that kind of buffer it's just a MSRP drop? They just screwed over almost all their current customers' residuals.

Not the same situation, but this TSLA move reminds me of looking at VWs a few years ago when they made a significant change (for the worse) in interior quality to bring prices down. IIRC at the time you could buy a brand new 2011 Jetta for several thousand less than a used (not CPO) 2010 with like 10k miles on it, and about the same as a 2009 with maybe 20k miles.

The sales guys at the dealerships were hilarious to watch b/c they really didn't want to sell any of their new inventory, though in retrospect I kind of feel bad for them. Tough to sell a crap product.

I owned a V10 TDI Touareg a while back. I would not owner any Touareg after. Night and day difference inside and so much cost-cutting.

There seems to be some damage to the underside panel in the rear. It clear came off and hanging a bit loose.

If the same thing happens to any other cars, it would trap dirt too.

My father owned a V10 TDI. He loved it. He sold it with over 100K miles because of so many issues with the turbos failing. Even with the problems and the sucky customer service from VW, he's still not over it.

We will now return to your normal programming.

Still not over in it in a positive way? The interior on that thing was insane. Supposedly each of those were sold at a loss to VAG but made up on other units in the product line. Either way the thing was bonkers but the major drawback or complaint was on a ten cylinder diesel motor it took forever to warm up and get heat in the vehicle

Can you imagine being one of the idiots who bought a top model for $130k a month ago? If a new one is 115k a used one is maybe worth 90k now since you won't get the tax savings. Even if you put $40k down you'll be underwater when you look at tax and registration.

Hate them or love them, can't argue that Tesla has fun doing it. If you look at their website, the Model Y has a page now. They arranged the models in order of S-3-X-Y for obvious reason LOL

Is anyone still considering this as an alternative?

Driverless tech is super important to me for my next car. Tesla is clearly the most advanced, but others are catching up. I think other companies have higher standards for what they produce than Tesla who is willing to take more risks to disrupt the industry. Unfortunately, it's painfully obvious that Tesla as a company is failing and I can't imagine buying something so expensive you have a decent chance of ending up with zero support/warranty for.

Can't wait for the normal car companies start making plethora of EV's so we can all say 10 years from now, "remember that crazy pot head and his company, what was it called? Tissel? No, Tesla. Yeah"
