The actual impeachment vote record

I didn't see it but a friend told me a republican wanted a record of how each house member votes. A roll call vote and a video. According to him, that was shot down. I find that more than a little troublesome.

I know that usually all that is shown on TV is the anonymous raw number of votes by party on a given item and all the members do is push a button to vote. It would seem to me that in this modern age there must be some sort of "record" showing how each member voted because people want to know particulars.

So, am I out in the weeds on this and worrying about nothing? If these people can vote without revealing "how" they voted, we are in deeper trouble than I thought.

Many thanks! I hope we don't have some "electronic glitch" that precludes collecting the impeachment vote.

You should do more research. You'd know those that didn't vote did so because they knew the senate wouldn't vote to remove Trump, that it was a waste of resources given the senate outlook, and that it would further divide the country. It wasn't because they thought Trump wasn't guilty of wrongdoings.

Curious. What would be the problem if the voting was anonymous? Worried that those in government would vote differently maybe do what's right for the country rather than their party?

It should be public for all to see. Just as ALL of the hearings should have been. Surely you don't have a problem with this?

In instances like this, I don't know. Think about it though. It's pretty well known that many members in Congress would vote differently if it were anonymous.

You don't get to see how jurors vote in a trial.

Record of who you (a citizen) vote for isn't recorded.

Why?

This is an action that could turn over a presidential election. EVERYTHING about it should have been conducted above board and with the most scrupulous attention to the rules and tradition of the House and the Constitution. It was not.

And I think you're honest enough to know this to be true.

You been listening to too many Republican talking points. This is not about overturning an election.

This is about Donald Trump abusing his power in office, extorting a lesser state for his own gain.

It's that simple. Anything else is a noise.

Except the democrats have been talking about impeaching Trump since the moment they realized HRC didn't win.

That doesn't matter. Some radical left social Democrats and Tom Steyer have been saying that from the beginning. But not Nancy Pelosi. Not shiff. Not Nadler. Not the vast majority of the Democrats. Not me.

Trump abused his power, very obviously.
And shown no remorse. I believe he will do it again.

But also the case is so strong that despite Congress not being able to question a single principal, in less than 2 months Trump was impeached.

That's some impressive criminality Pres Trump!

That being said - to be fair - Trump, his chief of staff, and his personal attorney all admitted to the crime on camera so Congress doesn't deserve much credit.
