My first car was a 1992 Honda Civic - What was yours?

Mine was a new 1992 Honda Civic DX. 5 speed manual, crank windows, steel wheels, manual passenger mirror, no cruise control, no ABS, no traction control, no radio. I had to install one myself. Remember the days when you can install a single or double DIN cheaply?

I had to make payments on it while my dad co-signed.

I knew a doctor who bought his son a brand new Prelude for his first car at 16 years old. Lucky punk.

I had a 1978 Ford F100. Vehicles are much better today, thankfully.

It is possible to install DIN and double DIN touchscreen Bluetooth units today. I did two of them in the past 18 months.

My first car (not including driving around mom/dad's car) was a 91 MR2 Turbo in 95. Threw a 20g on that thing with built internals and somehow made it out alive. Holy hell was that thing fast for its time, by far the most difficult car to drive I've ever owned.

My first car was a 1979 Subaru GL Hatchback. It was the first year of the second generation. Here is a photo of what it looked like:

Mine was also red, but more of a two tone color - red and bondo. I paid $500 for it.

It was a great reliable car, but had no power. I lived in Florida on the mainland, but my high school was on the beach side. As such, I had to cross the tall inter-coastal bridge everyday to get to school, of which was too steep for my car. This meant I had to drop it into 1st or 2nd gear and putter up the bridge at about 10mph in the pull over lane. It was rather embarrassing.

I also had a large component speaker box from a home stereo in the trunk hooked up to my car radio. It was pretty sad, really.

First car was a hand me down 67 Chrysler New Yorker with the 440 plant. It was well care for before I took the keys and it was solid as a Sherman tank. The7.2 liter big slug V8 with nearly 500 ft lbs it was terror on those skinny tires of the time and I needed new rears a bit to often. That car could really move for its size all the while getting about 10mpg, with the heavy foot I had anyway. Fun times.
No surprise I still need that torquey V8 kick in the back.

LOL- you have no idea. My Subaru did 0-60 in about 19 seconds. I believe the top speed was around 75-80.

My first car was a 1989 Vauxhall Carlton 2.0. I bought it for 600 off a degenerate Airman when I was stationed in Europe as an 18 year old. The gas tank had rusted through near the top and there were several holes. I couldn't put more than 4 or 5 liters in at once or the fuel would leak out under moderate speed cornering. Good times!

I had the wagon version so we did plenty of 1k mile trips. And it was hooked up too! Wheels, exhaust, headers and intake since that all that was available at that time

1996 Mitsu Mirage coupe. Passed down from my mom in 2002. It was an absolute tank, I got it with over 150k and we actually sold it in 2006 with over 175k on it, still ran well. My mom drove it from early 98-02. We bought that car in with around 100k on the clock already. Never really did anything to it besides having to add a little oil every now and then. Mitsubishi gets a bad rap but that car will always be remembered fondly. I was the first one out of all my friends to have a license and a car.
