BMW password compromised

I logged onto my Connected app on iPhone yesterday and was greeted by a message that stated my password may have been compromised.
Seems that some hacker has managed to steal 384’000 users personal information. Guess they would be able to see where the cars parked and of course use the app to unlock the car?
Reset my passwords and added PIN numbers now.

According to a report from SC Magazine, the database being flogged to cybercrooks includes a whole host of sensitive data, such as the initials and surnames of car owners, their home addresses and email addresses, and the names of dealerships and car-registration information.

Yes I’m starting to think it was part of the Apple passwords warning rather than from BMW.
There are some articles on the web about it though if you search.
Anyway I reset my password then the car decided it didn’t recognise me and wanted me to delete my profile then reset it from the myBMW app. Yep you’ve guessed it lost all of my profile settings and shortcut settings. Sorted now!

I never received any notification, but it's a good idea to change passwords.

Oh, I see it was UK data.

Actually it came from my IPad passwords feature which has a ticked box for warnings if passwords are compromised. Not from BMW.
It also warned that Bimmerpost passwords were also compromised so probably a load of tosh!!

I purchased my 2020 Z4 M40i used. I'm trying to change the previous owner's password but can't seem to get it done. Any hints?

Contact the “Genius” at your dealership, they should be able to help you.
