The Top Speed Thread

Since this forum has massively evolved, and not necessarily in a good direction with threads about Manscaping, Hairdos, and Mani-Pedis...I thought I'd bring us back to reality with some good man-stuff (with apologies to my BP OT crushes, cmyx6go & Lups ).

Welcome to the Top Speed Tread.

Here are the rules:
YOU must be the driver. You cannot be a passenger and claim the top speed.
Speed Achieved
Car. It must be a vehicle recognized as a motor vehicle. Race cars allowed.
Modifications, if applicable.
Tires
If at a race track, name the track.
All other runs are assumed to be in Mexico.

I'll start.

182 MPH
BMW M6 - V10 Power
Evolve Motorsports Tune. Dinan Air Boxes. Dinan Suspension. Dinan CF Rear upper stress bar. Tubi Rumore Mid-Pipe. Tubi Rumore Section 3. AC Schnitzer Billet Aluminum Front upper stress bar.
Pirelli PZero Corsa System

Mexico.

Nice!
So how did you get around the wall, haha.

That run took some nerves...I can't touch that.
Love your car.

Indicated 155mph
in a 320d, which I think is quite the achievement

A stage1 tune and a carbon spoiler which I think did actually make the car slower, but at 155mph it was out of revs anyway

Pirelli PZeroís

About damn time!

My current '19 X6M up to 148 (No mods) this past weekend. Thing felt as solid on the road at 80 as it does at 140. Still loving that machine, even after 15 months of ownership.

Highest number I've hit on the dash was on my former 2012 Ducati 1199s (miss that thing still, but she was totaled) at 167... and I didn't even have it pinned!

Considering getting a pre owned one for the track days...

I definitely enjoy my HP4, but the highest I've seen on her is 140 before she starts to feel a bit unstable. I'll test it out again with new tires when we get into the season again...

Thank you MK for getting this community out of the woman’s beauty shop and back where it belongs.
175mph and pulling at a good clip when I backed off due to running out of road. In my Supercharged C6, headers, Z06 brakes, 325,275 Pole Position tires. The car makes about 100 more HP then the C6 Z06 which has a top speed of 198mph so I’ll say given enough road it should break 200. Maybe one day I’ll give it a try.

144mph at Las Vegas Speedway in a NASCAR, Richard Petty Experience.

In Nicaragua

150ish MPH (speedo was in KPH) in my '77 633CSi in Germany. Whatever that car would do flat out. Pretty sure it was limited to the 145-150 range.

~ 180 - 185mph

C6Z06 - longtubes, heads, cam....I think almost 600 to the wheels.

Abandoned Airstrip undisclosed location.

I will admit I'm stupid when it comes to cars as I have no boundaries and have never been nervous.

I've been slightly faster on a bike. (Turbo GSX1300R of a friend) It was the only time I had actual doubts enter my mind....maybe because it wasn't my bike.

But I've raced cars and bikes my whole life...1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 mile events.

These days I may see 140 occasionally, but I've dialed it back a lot.

Praise God, an actual car-related thread and not another thread about how to look and smell like a girl.

speed: 208 mph
car: Superformance GT40 Mk II
engine: John Kaase Ford SOHC 8.2 liter FI, 13.2:1 compression; 110 octane Sunoco race gas
tires: Avon Historic All-Weather
sphincter: tight enough to sharpen a pencil

This was a run I did about a year after I got my GT40. The speedo only goes to 200, but I hit a little over 7200 RPM on the tach and when I hold the car at 3600 RPMs the VBox says I'm going 104-105.

The car was still pulling pretty strong, but I ran out of tach. And road. And cojones, frankly. Going that fast on a public road and without a helmet is just dumb. I did it to get it over with. Haven't done it since.

I've replaced that Kaase motor with a less-exotic and easier-to-get-along-with Roush crate motor. Still plenty strong. At a steady 160 MPH the throttle is far enough from the floor that I can slip my left foot underneath it. It's got about the same power-to-weight ratio of a 1-liter sport bike with a 200-pound rider.

About 1994, Crown Vic Police Interceptor on Hwy 400 Southbound from Hwy #7.....the car was a clean top and Hwy 400 is down hill here.....as I recall we did 230 KHM (143MPH). How many of you can say you had a crack whore in the back seat when you did your top speed.....I was young and not as responsible back then.....

100mph in Germany (really), unmodified e91 330d.

Oh wait! 110mph, Mexico, shady 1990 VW Jetta...VR6. Also

I'd rather get the tyres squealing around a bend than go flat out in a straight line... Can you tell?? 100mph is fast enough to get me where I need to go, so I don't bother going any faster really.

Speed: 245KM/H~*
Vehicle: Dads 2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Mods: None
In Mexico

Probably could have gone faster if I turned off the Eco mode on the highway like you're supposed to because it makes the throttle response more sensitive kinda like the POWER button on the E9X M3

I haven't gone faster than 215KM/H in the M3 due to the fact I'm having some sort of vibration issue once I get into the 200kmh range which I still haven't figured out.

*I'm not sure how accurate the speed is but the speedometer showed 245
