Passenger seats?

All kidding aside, while the top cover is desirable; I wouldn't want the folded top to cut into the trunk space.
That's a good point - I wouldn't be able to put my clubs in!

Think the M40i might be getting quad tips & revised badging.

I think I just read this, or a similar story, at bmwblog.com a day or two ago. But I didn't connect it to the Z4 LCI.

Personally, I won't lose any sleep over this. The existing integrated dual exhaust looks great, IMO (as it does on the M850i). I don't have any quad tail pipe aspirations, whether they're square (which seems likely for M Performance cars) or round (for full M cars).

The interviewer was bored with the revised badging explanation and moved on just as Dukec was explaining how it will work. What I thought I heard him say: the M240i is an M2 with a 40 designation, not just an "M240i." <-- that's going to be a little controversial for some people, I think.

Extending that to the Z4 and given past precedent (Z4M), will that make the updated car a Z4M 40i? It kinda' sounds like that's what he said.

Too soon to know but I'm guessing some LCI connection. Looked & sounded to me like ///M240i becomes ///M240i so thinking ///M40i but unclear about Z4 staying left, moving right or disappearing. Controversial looks like a sure thing. Also unclear if illuminated grille frame better guess is yes or no.

My highlight for the day: going back through various BMW blog posts about the Z4 and discovering this link: https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/05/13/b...ns-for-a-z4-m/

“The Z4 M40i has so much performance, it even gets close to an M2, so the Z4 already is a true M car, very competent, very fast.” Markus Flasch, BMW M Division CEO

Going to put that in my sig and start actively posting in the M forums.

Any guesses on when we'll see the LCI revealed? There are already lots of 2023 Supra details out there. If this is coming in the fall, it seems like the LCI would need to be revealed very soon?

If they come out with a true Ferrari style Red or a Tri-Coat like the Mustang Rapid Red Metallic would swap my black 2020.

If not will run the 2020 till it dies.

How about a Frozen Portimao Blue metallic like they offer on the M4 which I think is stunning?

Not sure I want to get into the maintenance a frozen paint might require. Like the regular type paint blue its similar to a roadster I had before I got the 2020 Z4.

If someone washes the car themselves is it really that more difficult? I believe that all you have to use are products for sold for frozen type finishes.

Frozen paint is definitely higher maintenance. If this car were my daily driver, or I didn't have the garage space to keep it out of the elements, I'd have gone with a traditional paint application.

Things I do differently on account of having frozen paint:

- I'm extra, extra careful to park so as to avoid any kind of door dings given that repainting is the only option if the paint is damaged

- I don't leave it outside where it can collect dust or pollen (both of which stick to the paint surface and don't easy rinse off unless washed)

- I don't let it get wet if I can avoid it, to avoid water spotting and road grime sticking to it

- I'm generally wiping finger prints and bug crap off the car with a microfiber cloth & detailer spray after every drive, and pack some detailer and microfiber in a bag in the trunk for this purpose

- I bought an indoor and an outdoor car cover for the Z4, and have used them both zero times. Mostly because I don't want the covers sliding around on top of and abrading & polishing the paint. The satin indoor one is light enough that I probably shouldn't worry, and I probably will use it in the winter when I'm not taking the car out every few days. The outdoor cover is lined with microfiber, but I'm still only planning to use it very sparingly (i.e., traveling and when the car is clean) if at all. With regular paint my only concern would be insure the car was clean still had some wax protection since the last waxing before throwing the cover onto the car.

Actual washing isn't a big deal with the ceramic coating - it's not hard to clean, or dry. Washing off brake dust accumulation on the wheels & brake calipers is the most time consuming aspect of keeping the car clean, IMO.

That's a color I'd have gone for had it been available, and was the one I usually chose when I'd play with the M4 convertible configurator when I was still window shopping. That and either Ivory or Cognac interior - I prefer the white, but suspect I'd have an easier time keeping the tan clean.

Thanks for explaining what is needed. I never realized that the frozen paints needed so much attention.

The ivory interior definitely pops the blue color more and you need sunglasses to look at the car. 😎

In my opinion the cognac interior gives it a classier look.

I am with you. Iove the frozen paints but the maintenance and (patch and repair) on a daily driver would be insane.
