you need both if you're not using ESYS for coding. bimmercode for coding, bimmerlink for diag, error clearing, exhaust flap control, etc.

Speed seems fine. I didn't time it but perhaps 10-15 seconds for a write or read.
Left my adaptor pugged in & the alarm went off phone not involved.

Do you need the adaptor pugged in for flap control? My last car was set "open" & forget

I wish you could defeat the transmission going into park when backing up with door open. Anyone have a clue?

I wish I could enter a parking lot, step out of the car and let the z4 find a parking spot and park.
It'll be cool. 😎😎

I am looking at ordering the OBDLink CX, Am I right in thinking I can use this adapter to change some functions with Bimmercode, like disabling the stop/start and then use Bimmerlink to set the exhaust flaps to always open? Also will any of these changes void my BMW warranty?

I’ve ordered an OBDLINK MX+ from Amazon, slightly pricey compared to others but it has good reviews and can be delivered before 1pm tomorrow which swung the decision.

I researched the warranty question. I couldn't find anyone who has had issues with Bimmercode and warranty but no one could promise that it would never happen. There seemed to be one case but that was associated with a specific problem, not sure how it was resolved.

The box arrived this afternoon, 10 minutes later I had removed Active Sound Design.

The car claims that Automatic mirror tilt is already activated, maybe time for me to actually read the manual!

So it seems that selecting the drivers mirror switches on mirror tilt.

I am slightly missing the parking cameras on my last BMW but the mirror tilt on a much smaller car will do.

Plugged the dongle in for a second time this afternoon. Also added
  • M idrive startup animation
  • Video in motion
  • Video via USB
  • DRL on off via Idrive

Once the car is run in, I will probably set the car to always start in sport, because why not!

Didnt you notice the sound from usb video been of much better quality than from other sound sources? Maybe because of the sound file format these are recorded with?
I usually record 4k ULTRAHD videos from youtube and the quality of the image and sound is excellent.

I must admit that I don’t have a usb stick or any videos that aren’t blue ray or streamed!

I’m not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but I coded my 2014 F13 to enable a bunch of features in the head up display (turn signals, phone list, play list, etc) and the M startup screen logo and even retrofitted a factory heated steering wheel, which required coding to enable it. I was a little apprehensive that this would be an issue with the factory warrantee, but none of the BMW service folks had any issues with it. I will mention that I also considered enabling the “sailing” feature that allows the car to go coast for better fuel economy, but didn’t want to mess with anything that was playing with the drivetrain. I’m not sure if others have run into any issues.

Will the code hold the flap open without the unit plugged in?

Cheers, that's good to know. I ordered the OBDlink CX, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet as my car was away getting detailed

Does anyone know if you can show the turn signals in the head up display?
