M4C is built in a new BMW plant at Dingolfing, Germany.

The Z4 is built in a BMW contracted assembly plant owned & operated by Magna Steyr AG & Co KG in Graz, Austria.

At Graz they build

Mercedes-Benz G-Class 1979–present.
BMW 5 Series 2017–present.
Jaguar E-Pace 2017–present.
Jaguar I-Pace 2018–present
BMW Z4 2018–present.
Toyota Supra 2019–present.

Its my understanding that all BMW's are shipped to Bremerhaven by either train or trucks.

That was what I was thinking too as my 435i was built in Munich and it was loaded onto a ship in Bremerhaven.

Yes, that sounds about right. Mine stayed in "Dispatched from Factory" status for a couple of days.

After my car got to the port, I am able to access my owner's manual. I have not been able to do this previously.

Just go to https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html and put in your VIN.

It looks like the online manual is specific to your car, so if you may be wondering if your car didn't get a specific option because of the chip shortage, this may be one way of checking. I say "may be" because I have no way to verify if the online manual has been updated to show any options which may have been removed, but, I think the site is telling me that it is updated to show any changes which are made to the cars.

I cry everytime I look at the shitty deal. MSRP less loyalty discount from BMWFS, but the devil made me do it.

Looks like the ship I was expecting to bring my car to me has left the port without my car. The next ship which will be going to the west coast will arrive in Bremerhaven in about two weeks. Hope the RAM is installed by then.

From time to time I have tried to use the MyBMW app to locate my Z4 and it has always said it can't locate it...until today.

The MyBMW app is telling me my Z4 is in Munich and even shows me, on a map, which parking lots to check for it. A couple of which are across the street from the BMW Museum close to the BMW Welt. The BMW My Garage web site is saying it is still at the port.

That sounds very much like your car's location and the app have not been synced. You're probably getting a default position which is near BMW headquarters? Just a wild guess?

What ever the reason, it just started giving me a location. It doesn't seem like a valid location, but it will be interesting to see if the location it gives changes as my car starts its trip to the US.

The app is very accurate as to the location of my Z4 here in the US down to the actual street address where I am parked. This could be an accurate location.

Not sure why it would be where it seems to be, but I guess it could be because they are running out of room to park cars which are waiting for parts. I guess Munich is, some what, on the way from the plant to Bremerhaven.

So now the app won't let me locate my car any more. I guess the location it gave me the other day was a bug in the app. I think I recall seeing somewhere that they updated the app so I guess my car is really still at the port in Bremerhaven. I still hope to get on the next ship leaving Bremerhaven for the west coast which leaves Bremerhaven on Saturday. Not sure how far in advance you can get vessel assignments, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

My guess is that until you actually connect your app on your phone with the car, you're going to get screwy results. I think that initial connection is through Bluetooth so I doubt you will be able to get good results until you see your car.
