Kwajtrade mentioned the ceramic over the Xpel PPF. The PPF is the key to protecting the front of the car from rock damage which will cause chips on the paint.

There are lots of youtube videos you can watch to decide what the best value proposition would be for you. I plan on keeping the car long term, so PPF made sense. This is the third car I’ve had it installed on and each time I covered more of the car because it worked so well. After investing in PPF, the ceramic was a minimal additional cost and it provides a glass like finish that makes the car super easy to wash and dry. I will note that not all ceramic coatings are the same and again, there are several good youtube videos with two year tests of various products.

So... FYI... PPF saved my hood.
I'm in an apartment right now while waiting for my house to be finished and I was using the pressure hose here. The nozzle was apparently not well fastened and it flew out and plinked off my hood!!!!! No scratch.. nothin. |

Question really is, did you notice that prior to or after the freak out?

My shop offered to apply 2 coats of ceramic coating for $300 after the PPF work was done but unfortunately my condo only offers outdoor parking and their rules do not allow me to do a car wash in our parking lot. You cannot take a car with ceramic coating through a machine car wash and the local hand wash places wanted double the price to use PH neutral car wash products so I am holding off on the ceramic as I refuse to pay $40 a pop to have this done. If I owned a house with a garage I wouldn't hesitate to add the ceramic coating and do my own hand wash as it really makes your car shine and water rolls right off of it. |
