I think it would be possible to install most of the option at the plant and then, when the missing parts show up, it would be possible to add them to the option at the dealer to make the option work. The question is how much more would it cost BMW? My guess is that the bean counters told them to just delete the option because the cost to BMW to finish installing the option at a later date would be much more than just deleting it. The problem with this option is the bean counters didn't factor customers into their equation.

So maybe the BMW web site hasn't been updated yet. Which just seems incredulous given BMW's attention to detail. Nothing surprises me with BMW anymore. |

You also need to watch out for those dealers that are taking advantage of the shortages and charging over MSRP! |

I think BMW USA has been updated. Under Standard Features on 3 series, 4 series, X5 (haven't checked other models), touchscreen is no longer shown, just voice and touchpad controller.

If I look at my build on the MyBMW web site, my Z4 is showing "40/20/40 Split Rear Seat"!

That's the more common description for SA code 465. Adds to the Z4:

I saw that as well and wasn’t sure what it meant but the storage compartment thing sort of makes sense.

Kind of proves my point about BMW not doing a great job paying attention to details.

LOL
Factoryspeak = SA codes (Sonderausstattungen/Special Equipment a/k/a Options). My car (black = customer add blue = factory options (such as 465) added by BMW NA as standard in our market: The ordering/price guides give corresponding descriptions. |

Hope your car doesn't have any long delays. Don't know why, but it seems random as to which cars have delays and others don't.

I have something else on order which won't be built until Feb or Mar so it may be a race for which one I cancel. At least it will keep me busy. And they did add in the 40-20-40 split rear seat so I'm happy about that.

Hoping for clear sailing on the Z4. For many reasons, it's my preferred choice. I rarely use the touchscreen in my Audi for anything other than carplay but I'm wondering how carplay will work with the idrive controller. If it's cumbersome or impossible, that could be a deal killer. Anyone with any experience with that?
