1) How long did it take to receive an allocation slot from the dealer?

2) And how long did it take to receive the vehicle (USA) or are you still waiting?

I placed my order (2022 M40i) on 7/31/2021. The dealer already had submitted an allocation which was waiting for production and I was able to modify it to my specs. My car is currently on the Themis which is in port in Belgium. It then will go to Southampton, UK followed by Manzanillo, Panama. It is scheduled to get to Port Hueneme, CA on Dec. 23. It is missing the RAM which should be installed at Port Hueneme, but I don't know the timeline for that or how long it will take to get it from Port Hueneme to Denver.

Below is my current timeline.

07/31/2021 - Placed order with dealer
08/05/2021 - Approved order details
08/18/2021 - Production begins
08/26/2021 - Paint shop
09/04/2021 - Entering assembly line
09/06/2021 - Quality Check / Final assembly (stayed here much longer than normal)
10/18/2021 - Ready for transport
10/19/2021 - Awaiting carrier assignment
10/27/2021 - Dispatched from factory
10/29/2021 - At the port
11/20/2021 - In transit

Order placed 08/12/2021. And I do not have all the itemized dates. But it arrived in New Jersey port on 10/26/21. And according to the dealer it was released to the trucking company on 11/22/21. Dealer thinks it should be there on 11/29/21 or 11/30/21. Mine is a 2022 with every option. So hoping to pick it up 11/30/21 or 12/1/21. Unless it takes longer to get a truck up to Vermont.

2021 Z4 M40 Frozen Grey Metallic II with Black Leather/Alcantara interior. Every option except Active Cruise Control. Started looking 15 MAR 21 and placed order about a month later when allocation at dealership was confirmed. The spirited wait is in the attached. Enjoy the pain.

Ty, my dealer showed me a chart saying no allocations were offered in the month of November for all the West Coast.

Happy to see that y’all cars are moving through the process.

I'm in Washington. My dealer traded for a November allocation for me. Have been in the paint booth for 6 days. Guessing the Austrian lockdown may slow things down a bit.

3/18/2021 - Negotiation complete and deposit placed at dealership. Impatiently waiting on a build allocation.
3/25 - Build allocation assigned. Order Received and tracking in MyBMW. I was told I had a build slot for week 18 (first week in May).
4/16 - Production Begins - I was shocked to see the build started 3 weeks early
4/22 - Exterior assembly begins
4/23 - In Paint Booth
4/26 - Entering Assembly Line
4/27 - Quality Check
4/27 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment
5/4 - Dispatched from Factory
5/5 - At the Port
5/10 - In Transit
5/30 - Estimated arrival at Port Charleston
6/1 - Actual arrival at Port Charleston
6/15 - Car Purchase
6/29 - Delivered

3 months and 12 days or 104 days deposit to pickup at the Spartanburg, SC PDC

If I hadn’t done Performance Center Delivery I probably would have gotten the car several weeks earlier, but the experience was well worth the wait.

2022 Z4 M40i All packages, all options.

Mine started production Aug 7 and arrived at the Baltimore port on Nov 26th. Dealer should have it some time this week but then I have to wait for the dealer to install a receiver audio module. Most likely I will get it mid December.

This is my exact timeline. Every dealer is different and every person's experience is different. If you got an M40i, you may experience some additional delays due to the RAM module.

5/21 - Placed Order
5/21 - Scheduled for Production
5/26 - Production has started
6/1 - Exterior Body Assembly Started
6/2 - Paint Booth
6/8 - Entering Assembly Line
6/9 - Quality Check
6/10 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment
6/18 - Dispatched from factory (longest and most difficult wait so far)
6/21 - At the port
6/23 - In Transit
7/8 - Back at the port (Galveston) Tracking image was also updated to show "AT THE PORT"
7/11 - Back in Transit (assumingly on its way to the dealer)
7/12 - Arrived at Dealership
7/12 - Delivered!!!!
