I don't think I'd ever choose that myself.

I also dislike grey cars, but that's neither here nor there.

For what it's worth, the Phantom was always my favorite model growing up and I have enough respect for those that flew and crewed them that for you, I will agree to like one, matte car, even if it is grey. So now my official stance is all matte cars are bad, except yours, which is awesome.
Me lighten up??? I guess you missed the big grin at the end of my post.

There is nothing quite like a meticulous, shiny paint, waxed and polished to mirror like finish!
Matte is underwhelming to say the least.

I'm indifferent about them but the GF loves the PlastiDip job I did on her '86 E30. This is purely temporary to hide the mismatched fender, bumper and hood. I've yet to install the facelift rear bumper (front bolts right on, rear needs about 2" of length cut out), at which point we'll paint it properly after we've saved up the money. This cost me about $300 and took me from 10am-3am from prep to painted.

I owned the first "Frozen" paint model BMW ever produced. I found it too difficult to drive it and keep the finish maintained from bugs and other debris. In frustration, one day I took a can of Blue Coral polish and made the whole machine shiny. Yes it was a metallic so once polished it really looked great and everyone asked me how I'd done it. This was in 1977 and the BMW was a 1978 R100RS, the first motorcycle with a factory full fairing developed in the Pininfarina wind tunnel.

Love my frozen blue metallic. It's actually really easy to maintain. Regular wash like any other car (but with a wax/gloss free soap) and touchless dry and done. In between washes I remove any bugs or other small things with a matte quick detailer that I keep in the trunk.

Can you get a wrap like that but not frozen?? Something that looks like paint? I am shopping for a car and 99.9% are grey/silver/black and I want a blue or a yellow but good luck finding one.

Yeah, there is a clear matte PPF that you can apply to a car to get this finish and protection.

It's hot or miss with me. Some are completely amazing. Others are rather gaudy.
