That picture isn't a very good representation. Go to this thread and scroll a little less than 1/2 way down. They are definitely orange.

I’ve noticed that on the configurator too, and have no idea what it means. The lighting is the same regardless of which trim option you choose.

Bit on that misdirect on my 2011 335is. Color was OK but would not have picked it if I had seen a real sample & not a picture.

On actual ambient lighting. Some guys have gotten a true red & a few other colors on the M3/4 with Bimmercode. Said you have to start with your lighting set to bronze.

Intend to try it on the Z4 this afternoon. Success seems to be random.

Am running with red ambient lighting.

Have the current version BimmerCode. Manually set the color to Bronze, this is the default gateway into the larger color list. Then use the BimmerCode prompt (the bronze color first on the list) & select the red color dot or whatever color you want from the sample list.

Will still say bronze but the actual color is a true red or your choice that is showing up in the dot.

I chose the Aluminum Mesh Effect for both my 30i and M40i builds.
