Have you verified that with the Genius Hotline – 1.844.4GENIUS (443-6487)

Took your suggestion and called the Genius Hotline; no luck there without a production # or VIN.

Wow this is an agonizing process.
This cannot be correct, as I have a schedule for Week 8 for an m40i.

Wonder if the dealer that TXSAGSBS is using just doesn't have an allocation.

I won’t have a date until it lands in the US. I’m hoping for an early March PCD.

My dealer told me the 30i comes out of a different factory when I ordered one, and that’s why they has a 30i on the way and still didn’t have a build order for mine, when I ordered one (switched to an out of state purchase).

I don’t trust the dealers (some people have better luck). Dealing with dealers/sales associates is more agonizing than i can handle.

I’ve ordered two cars in the last month, for both my wife and I. Used a broker. Discounts on both cars were significantly less than I could get on my own. Also no BS add ons or marked up financing. I don’t think I’ve ever buy another car again without using one.

I worked for an auto dealership for 20 years. I have been retired for 22 years. Please explain how this works. Do you pay them a fee? I just checked one in my area and they said that they don’t get paid by the dealership. Just curious 🤨

I believe you are correct. My dealership serves a population center of roughly 1.5 million people so maybe its on the small end relative to larger metro areas.

Yep. You pay a fee to the broker. The guy I used has a sheet he publishes each month on his website that lists the cars, % of MSRP he can offer, rebates, incentives and financing. He does BMW and a few other makes.

It’s very straightforward, with no BS. All fees are laid out (doc fee, license, etc). He sends you a link to a calculator where you can see the financing rates (tier 1 with no markup) and can play with your down payment and loan term. Once you’re good you send him your build code (also does some in stock ones too) and fill out the BMW credit app. Once approved they place the order, and he’ll send you the details. Will also give you an idea ahead of time on the timeline. He used a dealer local to me, so I can pickup, but he also offers shipping.

We ordered my wife’s X3 late December and got 9% of MSRP plus the loyalty incentive she qualified for. For my Z4, I got 3.5% off MSRP (unfortunately no loyalty offered by BMW). Also will add it works the same as any other order BMW, where if the financing/incentives change between the time I ordered and the delivery month, I can choose the better of the two.

Thanks for the info. Just curious, did you end up paying more or less than msrp? Do you pay him the tax and does he furnish a title?

Discounts I got off MSRP are listed in the post. He acts as a liaison between you and the dealer. Once the order is placed, everything is done through a BMW dealer. The only thing I pay him is the broker fee.

I’m assuming he has some sort of arrangement with the dealers, and generates the referrals based on the set discounts they negotiate.

Oh, thanks. So you still have to deal with the F&I guy at the store. As far as the end price, what I was wondering is, with the fee and the discount did you pay less than msrp? Thanks again

Yes, you still do all the paperwork at the dealer when you do the pickup, so still deal with F&I. But unless you elect to do any add ons everything else should be set.

As far as the fee, the guy I used was $699. Car I ordered had an MSRP of $74,220 and with the 3.5% discount I’ll end up paying $71,622. Backing out the fee I still saved $1,899 off of MSRP, and also again got the tier 1 financing with no markup.

For my wife’s X3, we had the same $699 fee but saved almost $5K off of MSRP, so she came out even further ahead.

One thing I will add for some people in states with high doc fees (Florida for example) is that this guy only charges $350 using his Illinois dealer. Even if you paid his $699 broker fee you’d almost be a wash right there.
