Was told, in 2013, MB would try to accomodate customer preference if communicated to factory before tires were on the vehicle. Different time, different brand, different MSRP. My guess is maybe similar answer for $$$$ models but Z4 not possible. Not something I asked BMW so I do not know.

No, a lot of confusion on that topic. They have touchscreens but not the touch iDrive controller that lets you scribble text on the top surface with your finger. Being left handed, it's worthless to me anyway. I had it on my F57, tried it a couple of times, realized I'd never be ambidextrous. Even if I was, I'd probably lose patience with it.

I had it in my Audi and only used it a couple of times. I realized that eaither my writting is so bad that it could not understand my letters, or it was just that bad and it could not understand my letters. Either way, we did not get along, so I stopped using it. I do not miss it in my Z4.

I wonder what people in the UK feel about it? Obviously a moot point on the Z4. How many people do actually use it?

I think I tried it once in my 3 series and once in my previous A5. It takes too long and doesn’t always read stuff correctly. Voice commands are much quicker.

It does provide a handy way to zoom in/out in BMW nav, But since I use Waze almost exclusively, not really getting any benefit from the touch sensitive part of the iDrive controller at the moment. Quote:
My car (dealer ordered) had a production date in late January 2022 and included both of those features - had to verify at delivery as I wasn't able to tell from the order sheet. The one option it doesn't have is wireless charging, which I am ok with as I'd read that it didn't seem to play well with iPhones (slow charging & overheating). |

Mine had a production date of 06/29/22 and also was missing the Controller touchpad (Option Code 6UX iDrive Controller non-touchpad). However it does have the touchscreen display. I'm fairly certain that ALL '22 models came with the touch screen display but a lot of folks confused it for the Controller touchpad.

Bumping this up in case anyone cares. My car is awaiting carrier assignment, but I see this 2023 on auto trader and it is Michelin PSS. Maybe they are still available on the 2023’s.

Let me know how it turns out. I flipped to "at the port" status this morning. Fingers crossed I have mine in a few weeks as well.
