I think it’s GT silver metallic. The red top makes it difficult to tell.

I saw a new Z4 the other day and if definitely caught my eye. Looks aggressive but for the money i'd stretch for a cayman/boxster.

Man, that's an irrational response - what does the engine configuration have to do with anything?

It's simply 340hp vs 365hp - and considering that the Boxster is lighter, the Z4 did superbly.

TTRS would have destroyed both in a straight line... TTS is one level lower than these cars

Another method of comparison are their individual Nurburgring lap times. I've also thrown in car known for punching above its weight, the current generation S550 Ford Mustang GT350R (2015 model).

This is far from scientific, and I won't waste any time responding to critiques of my methodology.

Based on my best abilities to gather that data, here is what I've found.

Nurburgring Lap Times:
1. 2015 Ford Mustang GT350R (526 HP, US Base Price: $63,495 USD) - 7:32.19
2. 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 2.5 (365 HP, US Base Price: $82,800 USD) - 7:40
3. 2019 Audi TT RS (394 HP, US Base Price: $66,900 USD) - 7:48.40
4. 2019 BMW Z4 M40i [Euro spec] (340 HP, US Base Price: $63,700 USD) - 7:55.41

Here are my rather pointless calculations, but interesting nonetheless:

Base Price per Horse Power Ranking:
1. Ford Mustang GT350R [US Spec 526 HP] - $120.71 USD
2. BMW Z4 M40i [US Spec 382 HP] - $166.75 USD
3. Audi TT RS [US Spec 394 HP]- $169.80 USD
4. Porsche 718 Boxster GTS [US Spec 365 HP] - $226.85 USD

Power (Stated) to Weight (Curb) Ratio Ranking:
1. Ford Mustang GT350R [3,760 lbs] - 0.139 (hp/lb)
2. Porsche 718 Boxster GTS [3,032 lbs]- 0.120 (hp/lb)
3. Audi TT RS [3,306 lbs.] - 0.119 (hp/lb)
4. BMW Z4 M40i [3,457 lbs.] - 0.110 (hp/lb)

Nurburgring Lap Time per Base Price Ranking:
1. BMW Z4 M40i (Lap Time in Seconds: 475.41) - $135.99 USD per second
2. Ford Mustang GT350R (Lap Time in Seconds: 452.19) - $140.42 USD per second
3. Audi TT RS (Lap Time in Seconds: 468.4) - $142.83 USD per second
4. Porsche 718 Boxster GTS (Lap Time in Seconds: 460) - $180 USD per second

Assign points to each Rank [Total of 10 available per data point (1st=4, 2nd=3, 3rd=2, 4th=1)], and you get the following score:

1st Place: Ford Mustang GT350R - 15 Points
2nd Place: BMW Z4 M40i - 9 Points
3rd Place [Tied]: Porsche 718 Boxster GTS - 8 Points
3rd Place [Tied]: Audi TT RS - 8 Points

I love that!

One minor correction (not a critique, honest!); I believe the M40i Nurburgring time of 7:55 was a 340hp euro version, not the 382hp car.

I spent more time than I'd like to admit trying to confirm that. The rabbit hole I fell down was then trying to decide if I use the Euro spec HP numbers AND a Euro base price.

Full disclosure: if I use the 340 HP and a European MSRP for base price, the Z4 would drop in the 'Price per Horse Power' (PpHP) ranking. At 63,750 Euros (converted at this moment to USD $71,954), the PpHP comes to: $211.63. That would put it in dead last place for that category.

Seeing as I couldn't confirm the horse power numbers of the lap time setting Z4, I went with numbers from the full fat B58 in the US version.

Not that it matters much but I'd use the 382hp for the "Price per Horse Power" (because that's what mine and yours have) but just note that the 'Ring time is from a 340hp version.

In the US at least the TTRS is only available as a coupe.
