Nice refresh, the new colours and wheels will look good on this chassis. Don't really dig the headlights but overall looks good. Pity BMW don't do a manual combo with the B58 in any model variant.

Glad to see that they kept the normal dashboard, it is probably the last Bmw with nice interior.
Very strange that they still equipped the car with obsolete Michelin PSS, wake up Bmw, they are 10 years old tires
For some reason in Europe we only have the 340-hp version, we are not entitled to have the more powerful engine

Compared to what BMW makes these days, this look wonderful.

BMWAG says to consumers that it is the Z4 LCI, but internally it is only an annual improvement. I assume the real LCI was cancelled on cost-effectiveness grounds. There have been many similar series models in the past. The most recent is the 8 Series. The M40i with manual gearbox will also be produced from March 2024. While some people are waiting for a manual gearbox, I think the ZF automatic gearbox is very Excellent.

Absolutely beautiful car! By far the best looking car in BMWs lineup.

How are the grilles too big on that? They are the smallest grilles in the lineup right now, and I think they are very well proportionate to the car! Yes, some grilles are too big (7 Series, X7), but I think the Z4 is done perfectly! Too bad it's not as popular as it should.

The Z4 still had iDrive 7, which it's better off with having! I've used iDrive 8 quite a bit now and I absolutely hate it! iDrive 7 is so much better and easier to use! BMW went backwards big time with the new system. Yeah it looks better, but it's incredibly confusing and the menus don't have any logic or order to them!

Does anyone else who has used iD8 have the same feelings I do that it's a step backwards compared to iD7? iD7 is by far the best system BMW has made! Probably one of the best in the industry, iD8 is not!

Replaced with Portimao blue possibly.

Misano Blue with Cerium grey wheels & trim and Ivory interior is an all time classic color combo for sure, but both of the used 2020 Z4s I test drove early this year came in that color exact config. And there’s another one just like that in a nearby neighborhood - the closest Z4 relative to where I live. So, personally I’m glad to see BMW swap in new colors every year instead of sticking with the same ones for multiple years.

Classic 1 car race.
Next time make sure the other person is aware both are racing.

The Hyundai Genesis forums are full of threads of people that beat M3s on street races…
Before you make an ignorant comment make sure you know the specs
35is clocks 3.9/4s to 60 all day long and traps 7-10 faster quarter mile then new m40.

I know know about Hyundai forums, you would know better I guess.

Sorry this is unlikely unless z4 m40 was in the wrong gear or something. That car is incredibly quick.
Read the specs of the 35is. I did more reading and it's a 1M in roadster form, engine and transmission

I have f82 m4 and i did side by side and it keeps up surprisingly well, much closer then I expected

Very very subtle 'LCI' I'd say. Different colours and grill as far as I can see.

Likely killed the planned LCI due to low sales volume.

Guessing that for every dollar BMW could spend marketing the Z4, ROI is better if spent satisfying the driving public’s thirst for SAVs and 2, 3, 4 series cars.

I had a 35is. Spec wise it is not faster than the M40i. Aside from that it is nowhere near as good in handling, braking etc. Andy Pilgrim did the M40i and the M2 competition on track, and the M2 lap time was less than .3 sec faster than the Z4. It's a much better car than the 35is

Am I the only one disappointed over this LCI? They just changed the grille and added a few colors and rims and called it a day.

Not to imply that this is a poorly equipped car, but I was expecting proper adaptive headlights to replace the current ones with the high beam assist and cornering lights.
Also, the wireless pad could absolutely be improved, it's a phone heater at this point. It's a shame because I was thinking about trading mine in for an LCI with a manual when the moment comes but seeing these minimal changes.. I don't think so.

Oh well, I guess our non-LCIs will hold value better at least.

It's definitely a nice gearbox. I'm a manual fanboy and I can say with hand on heart that this is the only non-manual gearbox I've driven so far that I tolerate. Those DCTs which are jerky at low speeds drive me insane, and so do the moments when you catch them off guard with that stupid gear preselection.

Oh man, a Z4M would be an incredible send-off before it gets tainted with a hybrid or electric powertrain. Though they probably consider they don't sell enough to justify that. A pity.

Hang on, what's different exactly? Maybe I'm blind but I can't spot the difference.

We get the 340 HP version because the OPF lowers power. I personally don't mind the power difference, but definitely miss the sound of the NA version. One of these days I'm gonna screw the warranty and completely replace the exhaust with a de-OPFed version. Sorry not sorry, that OPF is a sin on this car. Somehow they made the M340i sound good with it but not the Z4 M40i.
