Bring back the old grille. This grille looks uninspiring on this model.
Otherwise, I think it all works well. Good-looking from every angle.

I actually like the grille’s. This reminds me of every time Porsche changes something on the 911. The purists complain like crazy, and then all of a sudden they like the new car.

I have the older/original style grill, but I think I like the newer one based on photos if only because it's stylistically similar, though in a larger pattern, to the plastic grill pattern under the bumper.

On balance, the new intakes do add some aggression to the front.

Can't figure out the Shadowline lights though - from the front, anyway, they look the same as the existing lights.

Not especially easy to discern in pics.

Very subtle indeed.

Looks like the side/lower part of the projector barrels are dark in the Shadowline lights, and silver in the older style. Maybe there's more to it than that. Would probably need to set one up close.

Somehow they made the M340i sound good with it but not the Z4 M40i.
I don't think it is because of the OPF, we have the high-output version of the B58 with OPF on the M240/340/440i, only slightly detuned (374 hp vs 382 hp).
Nor is it due to the hybrid module, since the European M240i has the high-powered B58 without electrification.
I think it's more of an incomprehensible marketing choice.

Well don't wait too long, because the Z4 isn't going to be here much longer. They probably stop selling it in before 2025.

How is this car slower then z35is?!

I recently picked up an iz and had a quick street pull vs m40 and pulled away relatively easily.

How is that possible with 335 Hp n54 vs 382 hp b58…

I like the interior and rear, the front I prefer older body

Side lines of previous gen are art
Sorry this is unlikely unless z4 m40 was in the wrong gear or something. That car is incredibly quick.
Read the specs of the 35is. I did more reading and it's a 1M in roadster form, engine and transmission

I have f82 m4 and i did side by side and it keeps up surprisingly well, much closer then I expected
I had a 35is. Spec wise it is not faster than the M40i. Aside from that it is nowhere near as good in handling, braking etc. Andy Pilgrim did the M40i and the M2 competition on track, and the M2 lap time was less than .3 sec faster than the Z4. It's a much better car than the 35is
I didn't say it wasn't a better car, I said in a straight street rolling race I was surprised that I pulled on m40

I would hope new generation of the same car would be better in many ways

M Shadowline black headlights are the result of cost reductions.
It is a product that omits the paint from the previous headlights.

As a reference point, I created a "build" using the new pricing guide, as closely as possible to my 30i. It came out $2300 more expensive than my 6/29/22 production model BUT includes the HUD and heated steering, both of which I'd like to have but not at that cost. At $200, the heated steering would be a no brainer but I bought a Z4 that was already built and sitting at the port, too late to change the build.

I'm glad to see the HUD is back in the Premium package for the 30i, the M Sport package is included on all models, and curiously that the leather option has decreased from $1700 to $1500.

No mention of whether the touch controller is back but that's not something I'd miss. I had it on my '19 MINI Cooper S convertible and, being left handed, never used it.

The pretty much fully loaded M40i build I'm ordering in the next few weeks actually comes out to be about $600 cheaper if I did my math right, which I will absolutely take. Looks like the big difference maker is that while a few options are pricier, adaptive cruise control went from $1200 to $550 and the Premium Package went from $1900 to $1350.

I did the same thing and my build (M40i) would be $370 cheaper on a 2023. My 2022 is currently "At the Port" - as of this morning. I ordered Glacier Silver, which if I am reading correctly, is no longer available for 2023. Therefore the extra $370 is worth it to me.

The M40i that I just spec’d came out $1400 less. That’s not normal.

When considering the options I have always hated the fact that BMW usually puts the HUD in the same package as the heated seats and heated steering wheel. I live in south Florida and will never use the heated seats or heated steering wheel on my car. One of my best friends that owns a 2022 M240i and wanted the HUD and was forced to have the heated options feels exactly the same way. :

It's good for resale!

Just a few degrees of latitude to the north heated seats and steering wheel become useful for top down driving when temps drop into the 60s, which started in the mornings/evenings a few weeks ago.

Even mid-day on Sunday with the ambient temp near 70 with some cloud cover, I turned the heat on for both while wearing a sweatshirt & driving with the top top & windows down. Like being on a motorcycle, it can get cold in a hurry!

Overall I like it; no huge changes which is a good thing IMO as it is already a beautiful car. I like the new grill, not as fussy with the new lower vents but very similar in any case.
