Is the first post with the blue car under the two black ones a portimao blue z4? I haven't been able to find any pictures of one. I'm going to be ordering a 2023 and debating white vs. PB. Can't find any actual video or even pics of PB z4s. I'm learning PB with the cognac interior but also considering the white interior. Alternative is white with magma interior (I have white/red right now).

It must be because it has the new wheels introduced for 2023 models.

I agree, those are the 772M wheels for 2023.

Have you already eliminated the ivory interior which really pops?

I'd go with Ivory or Magma over the Cognac on the blue.

Ivory pops, but yes, it's been eliminated. I've had white seats before and I regretted it. Looks good, but I found that my jeans would stain/discolor the seats and it was horribly noticeable. I do see it even with the magma, but it's not as bad.

I do like the magma with this combo alot... but for some reason whenever I think about this color combo, the first thing that comes into my mind is clown shoes. lol

Where are you located? I like ivory, but I ruled it out for the same reasons. I went with black / alcantara. It’s unique with its blue stitching and the alcantara. Also, I am in Seattle, so I am not worried about black being too hot.

I'm in SAAAAAN ANTOOONIO! LOL It's HAWT here. Anything over about 93 degrees I don't put the top down and I work from home, so it's not too terribly bad. Black is very nice, but having the Magma right now, it's nice to have two tone.

When it comes to color, I've always looked to have at least 3 different colors on something, no more than four, which is why if I go with the magma seats, I'll get shadowline. I just don't like high gloss black. Scratches really stand out.. oof.

This exact reason is why i've decided not to go with that color on my next Z4 . I got a quote for full PPF Stealth for 5200 and Might opt to go SSG with the PPF stealth for that frozen look + Paint protection and easy cleaning without the worry of products to use and not use with the BMW frozen paints .

Shadowline is nice because you get the adaptive headlights. But back to your main question, I am having a similar debate. I love the Magma interior, so am leaning towards Portimao/Magma. But I also love the Thurndernight exterior. I've built a Thundernight/Magma combo, but I'm undecided if it's too much of a color contrast.

I felt it was too much of a color contrast as well. The Portimao Blue and Magma is pushing it for me. I love the Thundernight, but I fear that after a certain period of time that I'd start to dislike it. I am partial to blue. It is certainly my favorite color.

My son and I built this color combo together (more or less) something that appealed to us. Found out later that he thought the blue was frozen. When he found out it was shiny, he wasn't as excited about that color though. I don't blame him, but not sure I want to deal with certain aspects of a frozen color with how much construction we have around our house.

I originally wanted the blue that was available with the 30i without the M Sports package, so seeing that we have something that isn't as bright as the Misano Blue, but not as Dark as the other one, felt it was perfect. At the same time I wanted something that stood out from the crowd a bit. I loved my white Z4, but holy moly every car around here white or black. Alot of variants of gray... so any other color pops out of the crowd.

Shadowline looks good, just kinda wish it was more of a brushed look as opposed to high gloss. I have a feeling I'll be replacing the grill to slats with a mesh behind soon enough once I do pull the trigger on this.

I've seen a decent number or Portimao cars (3/4 series) with the Tacora Red interior, and it looks good. That isn't as bright as the Magma, but I think you'd still be ok. Will definitely stand out from the sea of gray, white and black cars that are everywhere.

I was worried about the ivory seats also but my detailing shop that did the PPF and ceramic on my Z4 treated the leather with Xpel's Fusion Plus Upholstery Ceramic Coating and they are still very clean after a year and 4 months. Also it didn't affect how the leather feels.

I actually know the XPEL San Antonio Corp HQ manager here. I'll have to ask him about that product.

I have posted this previously, Xpel has PPF templates that your installer can download which will cover the high black gloss trim and protects it from scratches. The PPF doesn't diminish the appearance of the black high gloss so you can have your cake and eat it too.

Like all ceramic coatings for the exterior you probably have to reapply it to the leather once a year. Please ask that question when you speak to him as I am curious as to the answer.

I did not have all the trim done in the interior, but the most common areas to get scratched. But...they used the Black XPEL PPF. That stuff looks absolutely great. All the black trim is covered in the Black PPF.

My guy used the clear PPF but you are correct that the black PPF would look fabulous on the trim!

I have the Aluminum Tetragon in my current car and really like it. It seems on these forums people have mixed opinions on it, but people who have ridden in my car think it looks cool. But I'd for sure go one of the aluminum trim options over the gloss black, since it's a dust/fingerprint magnet.

I often wonder why BMW doesn't offer a carbon trim for the Z4.
